I'm also curious about E. It's odd because it's a pale ale, I guess a funked up version of Edward. He normally doesn't bottle anything hoppy. Some of the reviews describe it as being like a saison.

It is wine barrel edward (more or less). It is more saison like than pale ale like.

I wasn't a huge fan of it the 1st go around. Wasn't as good as their other ba saisons, wasn't as good as any of their pales. Didn't like how the brett and hops interacted, mouthfeel was like drinking liquid chalk.

Like everything that is limited and stuck in a barrel, it gets higher ratings...

Curious to see how this batch comes out as they are always improving things.

Those mixed reactions are what has me wondering whether I want to make the trek for it. But the 4 bottle limit is tempting since I can sample it over time and have some to share with guests. The single bottle limit beers are obviously more attractive but hard to justify the trip from PA for one bottle. An overlap would be ideal... Hoping on that.

Don't get me wrong, the beer is tasty, but some people would drink the sweat that drips from Shaun's jockstrap into his brewing boots and call it gold.

This isn't the best beer HF makes by a long shot. I'd much rather have 6 or 12 of (insert regular HF saison here).

The last bottle of E. I opened was not very good. Storage conditions were unknown as I traded for it for a bottle share. Fresher bottles were very tasty. I'm expecting this batch to be much better as he's really, reallllllly got the barrel aging dialed in these days. If you like his saisons, go for it. If saisons aren't your bag and you're more into the hoppy stuff and stouts, I wouldn't bother.

If you try it and hate it, you can always trade a couple for something you'll enjoy.

Any indication of what this batch of E. Was aged in? The only 2 batches before this were different, so it will be interesting to see what he did this time around.

there was a batch that was aged in stainless, then some of that batch was in mimosa barrels (probably after juicy) and released later, I believe.

I thought this was the 2nd batch. Was there one that wasn't bottled?

B1: All stainless fermentation
B2: Aged in spent Mimosa barrel(s?)
B3: The new one, wine barrels.

All 3 were bottled. I think b1 may have been tiny, though

My only experience with E. was a bottle I traded for back in jan/feb 2013 that I opened in July. It was easily the biggest disappointment I've had with any HF beer. I don't know if it was the stainless or Mimosa barrel batch. But it was totally unbalanced, super bitter up front and then lots of brett funk. Didn't work at all. However it simply could have been a bad bottle, no real way of knowing.

What I do know is that in the last year HF's beers have been getting even better and better. So I'm looking forward to giving the new batch a try.

Yep. While I never tried it, the previous batch of Daybreak seemed to also be quite polarizing. But this one, while it hasn't been universally lauded by any means, I thought was excellent.

What color was the cap? The stainless has a gold cap, Mimosa barrel switched to silver. Mimosa barrel is so delicious, so juicy.

I don't trust it either but this is the first time he's actually given a bottle size for a new Flora variant, so I hope he goes through with releasing it.

RIP Flora with Cherries, Flora Cuvee.

I don't think that's true. Flora w/ Cherries is also 500 mL I believe. Maybe that never made it to the website, but it slipped out somehow. Actually now that I look at this thread I think my only information about it came from this thread, so never mind. Haha.

Ah, he never specified that officially (unless I missed it on Twitter). Hopefully we see this one soon.

Yeah you're right I don't think he ever did. And my guess is that it's going to be onsite only, so I don't think it's happening. But who knows..
