What if my OG is higher than what the recipe says. Supposed to be 1.050 I got 1.060

If "ALL" your volumes are all spot on then you have awesome efficiency compare to the brewer whom posted the respie. Just make sure your hydrometer is calibrated at 1.000 in tap water and your taking your reading's at the right temp for that hydrometer...usually 60 or 68.

Was it extract? Often extract readings are off because the boiled wort does not mix fully with the added water. This usually results in a low gravity reading when the sample is taken from the top of the fermenter.

My maibock last night finished 22 points higher than expected, it happens, whoops. I double checked everything then topped up with an extra 5 litres to bring it back into line. That's a free box of beer after losses :D Normally I just let it ride but this was a big beer to start with.

If your volume was ok why not just take the extra sugar and be happy w/more alcohol in your finished brew?

You didn't say if this was an extract kit or if you went all grain. If it is an extract kit and the volumes of liquid are correct the OG is 1.050 because there is a guaranteed amount of sugars in the extract so you cannot miss. However, mixing extract completely is difficult an often results in a wrong reading for the OG, most often too low but too high also happens.

This was an extract kit. From previous replies it doesn't sound like this higher OG will make my beer bad.

It won't make your beer bad because you really didn't get an OG of 1.060 unless you used less water than specified. The malt extract has a known amount of sugars that when mixed thoroughly with the top off water will get you an OG of 1.050. However, this extract is much denser than water and is difficult to get properly mixed and your hydrometer sample picked up some with more extract in it.
