So the motherinlaw is over and hanging out around the house. It's late, 1:15am my time. I'm hiding out in my office / room with the kegerator, with a cold beer. She tinkers, cleans, and putters. Filipino. Nice woman but the sound of someone messing with your place when uninvited is both frustrating and angering. Anyone have an inlaw story or funny moment to share? At this point just looking for a laugh!

My grandma-in-law calls me fat :(

Ha, none here, I get along with mine. In fact, my FIL thinks I'm gods gift to music. Pretty nice to not have the stereotypical monsters in law.
You could always watch Meet The Parents ;)

I think my gf's step father doesn't like me, he doesn't ever seem to want to talk to me, and when he does he looks pissed.

Ugh, don't even get me started on the MIL...

At least she thinks I'm a good husband and father, and I can barely stand to socialize with her.

I am extremely blessed that I really enjoy the company of my inlaws. They don't drink beer but fil is into guns so we have something in common and mil is just happy I gave her two grandchildren.

They also have forgiven an indiscretion or two over the years. :)

My wife even hates my MIL. She is a coke dealer and selfish ****. Overall waste of oxygen.

so you have a Filipino woman puttering around your house cleaning and fixing things? that sounds like something I would happily pay for - and if you change your viewpoint I think drinking while someone else cleans sounds like Fun on a Bun

Is she selfish because she doesn't share her coke? That is pretty rotten.

My MIL is over at my house every day. She has learned to just visit when I'm not around so its all good. She keeps the kids busy.

My FIL is a real A$$ to his daughter, but what do you expect from a person with major insecurities, AHHHHAAHAAAHHAHAHHAHAAAAHHHAAAAA, GOTCHA!!!!!! . . .. . . . . . umm, . . . . . . . ooops, I'm ok.

Other than that, no real problematic out-laws.

Some of my in-laws, of the fundie persuasion, think I'm the debil because I brew. Also, my teenage sons should not be exposed to such depravity.

They are frakkin' loons, but have enough sense to just talk about me behind my back. If they tried that to my face, I would beat them senseless with facts and the cold light of reality.

;)

my inlaws are cool for the most part. my wifes step father helps me brew and we enjoy running ideas by eachother for the next recipe, her real father is ok but treats her like crap. her mother is always good to have around with the baby here ( she does all the work)

MIL.. Love her
FIL.. Yea, not so much. We havent been in the same room in over 10 years.
They are divorced.

If ANYONE was screwing around outside my home @ 1:13am, they would get met face to face with the unfriendly end of a shotgun. Regardless of who they are or if I know them or not. I would follow up with a," I am sorry, I thought you were a burglar, maybe you should not be doing this at 1:13am...unless you like haviong loaded weapons pointed at you...or even better call the cops for a "suspected" peeping tom.

I'm sure that'd go over real well with the wife. Why not just pull a knife on her and cut off a finger while you're at it?

am i the only one that loves my girls family?

My wife's parents are jehovas witnesses. wife is not in the club, so they stay away. They only stop by to drop off literature - which sends me into a rage when they used to leave it where my kids could read that trash. They no longer stop by.

so no, I do not like them.

My mom, who I didn't know at all growing up( I lived in PA she lived in Washington with my brother) is someone my wife and I both enjoy talking to and spending time with - we fly out to idaho to see her for about 10 days every summer with our kids.

She's a nice woman, just a little on the crazy. Once when she was visiting I got up at 3am to go to the bathroom and she was rearranging the bottles in the shower and stuff on the vanity. She's been here for three days and has sat in the same spot knitting a scarf the entire time, barely saying a word to my wife or I. I feel like I'm being watched. It's creepy.

OK home priotection and defence falls into my area/duties. It not unnormal for me to hear a strange noise in the middle of the night or for the wife to; grab a firearm and investigate. I would say this happens 2-3 times a month.

I am NOT advocating hurting anyone like the bizarro knife comment of yours. Ever hear the saying,"You brought a knife to a gun fight."? That is why I grab a firearm... ;)

Think for a moment how this would play out if the roles were revered in the OP. My FIL LOVES the fact that I do activily protect and love his daughter with a ferocity that can only be equal to or just less than his own.

You feel the need to check your property with a loaded gun 2 or 3 times a month? What sort of neighbourhood do you live in? I personally wouldn't live anywhere that felt that unsafe. But I'm one of those peaceful Canucks that don't even lock the back door.

My girls family is awesome. They're from Mexico (legally by the way) extremely hard working speak English, hunt, fish, party.

In all honesty, I actually like my girls family more than I like my own most times.

My mom can talk for an hour and say absolutely nothing if she were a pilot she would never land the plane.

My dad is OK for the most part I guess.

It's INSANE how many people in Canada leave their doors unlocked. I actually condone it.

The way I look at it is if they are going to break in, they are going to break in I don't want to have to pay for a door as well.

Too many people with entitlement issues think they deserve what you have just because they are living. Those are the people that Zamial is talking about and sorry those people deserve to get a gun shoved in their snouts.

And where do you live? I'm a...peaceful person...too..

That's like jumping out of an airplane with a parachute but saying to yourself that God will stop you because he loves you and wants you to be safe.

It's funny actually. Grew up without ever locking the door, never had an issue, and Prince George recently was listed as one of the most crime ridden cities in Canada. That is by population and PG is only 72,000 or so.

Haha! Sure it is.

I've lived in Prince George on and off for 35 years and never had a break in. I actually don't know a single person that has. What problem would I be fixing by locking my door? Just saying. :mug:

My MIL is Puerto Rican; their family culture is a bit different than mine (Italian). She comes for dinner, stays a night...maybe too....my blood boils. It's always been that way in their family--no invite needed, stay as long as you want. My family is more like: come, eat, bounce...know your role.

She's actually a really nice lady, it's just yanno...man's home is his castle.

She also wears a mumu (no bra) around the house and doesn't get up until late. She NEVER cleans, and all I do is cook. If there's one woman you DON'T want to see braless, it's the MIL...MILF maybe but not MIL.

So, yours sounds like a dream...at least she cleans...wanna trade? Nah, didn't think so.

I WISH I lived in the country...I HATE living in a city. It is actually our plan to move from the city ASAP. I do not live in a particularly bad area but crime does happen and has been on the rise latley. Even in the country I would check my home with a firearm if I felt the need. I do not want to hijack this thread as it seems I have so I will try to get back on topic...

My MIL is a pervert of the worst kind, she would make sailors blush... I do not dislike her but she is also a button pusher and when all the wife's family is gathered at one place, at one time there will almost always be hurt feelings and tears. The FIL and I just sit back, watch sports and have some home brews or good beers. In 2 weeks we will be going bird hunting togeather.

My in-laws are from Mexico and I really get along well with them. Nice people and they live 2000 miles away and visit once a year for a few weeks. My MIL takes over washing dishes(my job) while she visits. They are great people.

Oh yeah !!!! My father in law is from Greece and has a very heavy accent. One day my then fiance and I were down in the family room of her house watching tv and of course I was being a wise as* and saying everything with a heavy greek accent like her father. Little did I know he was right behind me and if you don't know any greeks #1 they have a huge ego about their culture and #2 they have No sense of humor and they really didn't want a non-greek marrying their daughter. He was so fuming pissed off he threw me out of the house wouldn't talk to me for like 6 months. needless to say I seem to piss them off / piss me off every 6 months or so.

Nope, I'll take a little crazy over that!

My in laws are very nice and while I probably wouldn't hang out with them on my own, there are much worse people I could be stuck with. Sometimes they are a little overboard with their generosity and niceness but like I said, it could be a lot worse.

My in laws are great. In fact, my FIL used to brew beer and has a great sense of excellent craft brews. I always make sure to bring over some homebrew whenever we visit, which is often since they live 10 mins away.
