So to keep from going stir crazy with my fermenting beer, I just soaked 50 empty flip tops in a few gallons of hot water and oxyclean to de-label. Let it sit for about 20 minutes, rinsed each one thoroughly and added a few drops of lemon juice in each to neutralize the base residue that some have reported, then rinsed again...all one handed!

I have about 100 bucks worth of stuff I'm about to pull the trigger on (vinator/sanstar, love2brew vanilla cream ale kit, ph strips, another ale pail), then I'll get started.

Quick side question...what is the consensus for bottle trees? Are they that much more convenient? I have one in my shopping cart, but I wanna make sure I'm making the "right" decision. Thanks again, everyone!

I just got a bottle tree and I love it. I wouldnt spend too much money on one but if you find one for cheap go for it. Its one more thing to sanitize but I think its worth it.

I started out like you - I guess I went off the deep end.. I traded in to be able to do 10 gallon batches, and then went further and plan my day to get 2 done. It's a real full day - but I can skip a day at the gym!
