Is this amount of foam normal before pitching yeast? Should I pitch it right on top of the foam or wait for it to go down? This is my first brew BTW. Thanks for any help!

Here's the foam

You aerated in your carboy or bucket and have four or five inches of foam on top of the wort? This is normal. Good job of aeration.
Seems like from your post you are planning to use dry yeast? Dry yeast can be sprinkled on top of the foam and then stirred in after about thirty minutes. You may kill up to half of the yeasts cells this way though.

Rehydrating dry yeast is a best practice. The rehydrated yeast will pour through the foam. Link to simple rehydration method.

Yeah I did try and aerated quite well! Thanks for the reassurance guys! And yeah I did just pitch the dry yeast on top. I'll try rehydrating the yeast on my next batch!
