Help with competition calender

I'm looking for info on upcoming competitions though 2011-2012. I've never competed before but I finally feel confident in my ability and have been recieving incredible feedback on a particular recipe, so I figure its time. Does anyone have any recomendations for a begginner, new to competing, like which ones are good for newbys etc.? Also any dates or internet sites with dates would be very helpful due to the travel planning. Thank you

I'd join the AHA. Many comps require you to be a member to get all the perks of winning, such as the Pro-Am competitions.
