The way I usually do it goes like this:

  1. Strike 5.00 for a temp of 150F. Let it sit for 60min.
  2. Add 2.00 Gal at 209F. Let it sit for 15 min.
  3. Drain to brew kettle.
  4. Add 6.00 Gal at 170F. Let sit for 15 min.
  5. Drain to Brew Kettle, and begin boil.

Would you call it a Single Infusion, Double Batch Sparge??? If so, I can get the brewsheet to come out with those steps. It always add an extra 2-3gals of sparge water. Any help would be appreciative. Thanks guys.:mug:

I think it would be double infusion (initial water and then your mash out water), single batch sparge (the third water addition).

ok, now my next question.....

How would I set that up in Beer Smith so that the Brew Checklist spits it out that way?

I have tried all kinds of settings in it.....and I just cannot get it to drain the Mash Tun after the 2.0 gal addition, than drain the Mash Tun again after the 6.0 gal add without it trying to add more water to sparge with.

Thanks again!

If you click on the details for the mash profile, there is a Batch sparge options section. Click in the box that says drain mash tun before starting sparge. Also I would use the Single infusion (2 Steps) option. This will give you the mash out step you are looking for. :mug:
