Home brewer out of Texas. Been brewing off and on for a few years, mostly using kits. Looking to start designing my own recipes and just being part of a community.

As you're brewing with those kits look at how the recipe comes together. Read up on what each of the ingredients bring to the party. By understanding what each role plays you can start to learn to design your own recipes. Start out simple though then make small changes as you go. Most of all, keep detailed notes!
