I am 37 years old and enjoy a good homebrew or micro brew. I have been interested in homebrewing for years and finally have the time to try it. Any suggestions?

How is the upstate? I was transferred from the upstate to the low country 8 years ago.

I started brewing almost a year ago. The best thing to do is just jump in and try it. You can learn alot on the board but it means alot more when you have a brew day under your belt.

I purchased a starter kit from Northern brewer with the Sierra nevada extract kit. Brewed it and tasted it to the original. I took off from there. Learned from mistakes and went to AG. Now I am about 8 batches in and really getting my brew process down.

Welcome to the madness. PM me with any questions.

Welcome. I just started myself. Once I decided I was going to do a home brew, I did a ton of reading. This site provided nearly all the material I needed. YouTube vids on home brewing also helped a ton. I decided personally to do extract brewing with some steeping grains. I did not buy a kit because I couldn't find one with all the piece parts I wanted. I spent about $80 on a 5.5 gal brew pot that my wife also wants to use for soups (double bonus), about $160 on basic equipment, and $35 for an ingredient kit.

Actually, the first thing I did was decide what beer I wanted to brew, then figured out what I'd need to do it. Settled on an extract version of Janet's Brown after reading tons of great feedback. That is now bottled and my second batch is in primary.

GL. Not sure how far you are from Atl, but Brewmasters Warehouse might be worth a road trip. That's where I order from and I think they have some intro to brewing classes I think if that's of interest.
