hellp everyone, after talking about getting into home-brewing my sister hit me with a 13yearold mr.beer kit from a garage sale. which i guess was the kick, the kit didnt work(ingredients were way to old i think).

Anyways just bought most of my tools and grains searching for a cheap pot or 2 and a cooler.

this beer brewing seems like itll be alot of fun. this forum looks great and has a wealth of knowledge it seems

About 10 years ago my roommate and I tried a Mr. Beer kit. I think we drank a bit too much while setting everything up. Tasted terrible and some of the bottles would fizz over for 10 minutes before we could even try drinking them!

Welcome to the wonderful world of homebrew.

You will be much happier using truly fresh ingredients, and having resources like this great forum to help along the way.

Good luck on your next batch.

I'd say it's probably the yeast that was the problem, at that age I doubt you had many viable cells. If you buy an older canned kit off a shelf at your lhbs, your best bet is to buy new yeast to go with it. A cheap investment to ensure good beer.

Welcome.

so I added everything together for our all grain kit and the total came to about 180.
that pretty good?

decided on making immersion chiller for the next batch. seems much easier then what i did lol.

looking to get a small fridge for temprature control for a lager and just in general for my primary. What kind of fridge fits a bucket or 6gallon carboy?
