I've never appreciated my best friend cig smoking but it does come in handy when I'm trying to get rid of beer that is not top notch. He can't tell the difference.

Heck - even some batches I feel are undrinkable he says are fine!!!

The upside to smoking!

My dad was a heavy smoker most of his life, I used to tell him I could smell him get out of his truck in my driveway and he didn't believe me. After he had his lung removed and had to quit smoking, he told me after he'd been smoke free about a year how he just didn't realize how it stank and that he now believed that I could actually smell him pull in the driveway with my windows open or walking up the porch steps WITH THE WINDOWS CLOSED.

That said I'm sure you're about to be told in no uncertain terms by several smokers how wrong you are

Haha That's funny. Smoking does have a great effect of taste and smell, so this makes sense. I'll keep that in mind :)

Undrinkable? You must have kegged them.

I made a sort of black English pale ale that came out sort of astringent. I didn't care for it much normally, but when I smoked my pipe, that beer wasn't too bad. I could actually taste it over the pipe.

I quit smoking around the time I started brewing thankfully. Beer (and everything else) tastes way better once you've stopped smoking for 6 months.
