I'm a bit new to harvesting yeast and need a little help. I gathered yeast slurry in 3 small mason jars in September. I want to reuse the yeast, but I'm confused about whether or not to make a starter. I would say I have about 100ml of slurry (not washed cleanly), so maybe about 50 ml of pure yeast. I want to brew a beer that will be 1.051 OG. Should I make a starter or just dump in what I have?

Also, if I make a starter, (which I'm guessing I probably should) should I just dump in all 100ml or try to pour off the 50ml of clean yeast? And what size starter is good for that amount of slurry?

Thanks in advance.

Signed,
confused

I would make a 1-1.5 litre starter with all the 100ml just to get things going.
