Grommet and airlock

Hi folks just wondered if i could get some simple info. I’ve recently bought a new bucket that’s much bigger than the one i used to use and for the first time im using a grommet and airlock. I just wanted to know how much to fill the airlock with water?
I’ve currently filled it just over half but not sure if this will be too much, any info would be great, it’s a U shape airlock by the way. Thanks in advance.

Half way is good enough. There should be a line that says max, filling any further will cause sanitizer to start spewing out making a mess.

If it's a 3 piece airlock, then half way is about right. Most have a line to indicate how high to fill with sanitized water.

The S-Shape airlock should only be filled about a fourth of the way up.
