Hi everyone! I'm a small-time all-grain brewer from the great State of Michigan. Living here, provides my wife and I some great local microbrew and a tremendous community.

I've been a brewer for only a short time, but I must say this site has been invaluable to me. Every time I have a question, this forum is the first place I turn. I'm glad to be a part of it, and look forward to contributing!

Happy Brewing!

Welcome from across the lake!

(And I'm enormously jealous of the fact that you can go to the Eccentric Cafe probably any time you want!)

Bell's, Founders & New Holland. "great microbrews" is right

at a recent local brewfest, I joked with one of the brewers from Founders about how great Lake Michigan water must be for brewing.

he laughed and said, "yeah, we pump it in and use it unfiltered"

welcome to the obsession & the forum

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! Yeah, we're flush with breweries in town. Heck, we're still a pretty small town, but I'm not complaining! Listed below are just some of my favorite ones.

Arcadia Ales - coming to town, currently in Battle Creek http://www.arcadiaales.com/

Bell's Beer - You have to make it to the brewpub. Great beers that aren't sold anywhere else. I just wish they had some servers...

Latitude 42 - new guys in town, great great beer, food needs a little work on the seasoning.

Olde Penninsula - Brew pub

Boatyard Brewing - you can pick up growlers, but still building the place

Gonzo's BiggDogg Brewing - longtime local brewer, opening his own place, build out in progress

Rupert's Brew House - local brewer, opening his own place, build out in progress

Dark Horse Brewing - not here in Kzoo, but close enough. Fantastic brewers, and their trippel, Sapient, is one of my favorite beers.

South of here in a smaller town of Sawyer, Greenbush Brewing - Newer place but an awesome brewery, with great food at the pub. Their beer "Closure" is quite good (wife's favorite)

This list is just some the great breweries here in southwest Michigan. I hope some of you get to come and have some great Michigan beer!!!!

Welcome! My daughter attends Western, and we have season tickets to the football games and I hope to go to one or two of the hockey games this season too.

I noticed the couple of new breweries in town when we dropped Kim off this fall. Really looking forward to checking them out when they get done.

I don't mind waiting myself at Bells. It's actually a fairly small place for the size of brewery. Good sandwiches.

Didn't know about growlers at Boatyard. Almost went there for lunch 2 weekends ago, but thought they weren't open yet. Could have swung by to get one!

Maybe one of these weeks we can meet up at a brewpub or something. I might be able to share some homebrew (If it turns out ok...)
