I am curious, I am about to bottle my Christmas brew and it calls for priming with 3/4 cup molases. Is there enough sugar in that to give me a nice bubbly or what? Also, what if I upped that to say, 1 cup molases....what would that do to A: The flavor and B: the carbonation???

Any help would be great!! Still learning, so be nice...... :drunk:

funny...

i just noticed that your screenname was "bootytrapper". All this time I was reading it as "bootytapper".

Are we talking light molasses, dark molasses or blackstrap? They all have enough sugar to carbonate, but the flavors are different. Another 1/4 cup of light won't be a problem, the same addition of blackstrap might overwhelm the ale.

I am talking light molases!!!! Or should I just add maybe 1/4 cup of priming sugar and get the same results?

Thanks guys!!

3/4 cup of priming sugar or 1 1/2 cups of DME.Try the molasses i think it will add some depth of flavor. Just boil it with a couple cups of water to thin it out so it will disperse in your beer.

Remember too much carb = boom!!
