Based on the searches I did on Google, I'm thinking this isn't even possible. I'm getting there on Friday, but probably not early enough to find Pliny on the shelf anywhere. I was just hoping for a second opinion or other options. And I don't have time to drive to Santa Rosa.

Thanks!

Do you just want to try a pint or do you need bottles?

Blue Palms in Hollywood almost always has Pliney on tap.

Bottles are hard to come by but not impossible, you just have to luck out on the timing. Whole Foods in Santa Monica gets it but ti's gone as soon as it arrives so you gotta be lucky with the timing.

I was hoping for bottles, but will settle for trying it on tap. I'm going to Vermont later this summer and wanted to taste Pliny and Heady side by side.

Try Bob's Market on Ocean Park Blvd. An independent grocery store that has a great wine and beer selection. And grab a BBQ sandwich for lunch from the grill in the parking lot, you won't be sorry!

Whole Foods typically gets it on Tuesdays, so you gotta be there as it sells out that same day. I'm in Northern CA and only a few miles away from Russian River. If you live near any cool regional breweries, we can discuss a trade.

I was able to find it at A & E liquors. Pretty steep prices, but still.

I was surprisingly disappointed. It was a good IPA, but did not match the hype. I think Epiphany IPA from Foundation is far and away better.

We'll see how Heady compares when I go to Vermont later this month.

I sort of feel like comparing Pliny and Heady is like comparing apples to oranges. Sure you can pick which one you prefer, but they are very different beers. I haven't had either in a while, but from memory Pliny is pure Pine/Resin while Heady Topper is a more juicy, citrusy DIPA. Although they are both DIPA's, I don't really consider them in the same category as far as flavor is concerned. For the record, I prefer Pliny :)
