What should I get for my keg? I see that people use freezers but I would think your beer would freeze easily. Anyone know what a common temperature is for a keg?

If you get a freezer you also have to get a temperature control like a Ranco or Johnson Control. This controls the freezer to allow higher temps than "Frozen". I serve my kegs in the mid 30's.

And to answer your other question, it's all personal preference. If you're not blessed with height as some of us are then a chest freezer may not be your friend...reaching in and lifting out the keg could be a chore as well as cleaning. I prefer a freezer so I don't have to jockey around kegs so much just to get the one in the back out. I just reach in and pull whichever one I want straight out.

Yeah you need a secondary temp controller if you plan on going the freezer route.

I prefer a fridge since they don't need a collar or temp controller. Smaller footprint, too.

I assume we are talking about ales? Have you ever tried serving them warmer? I am not trying to call you out by any means but I used to serve at the same temp and learned from this forum that I should serve warmer to allow the beer it's full potential. Try it and see what you think. I have mine sitting at around 48* now and my beers have never had more flavor.

Cheers!
