I also gave them a heads' up. It's only fair to hear both sides and give the restaurant and opportunity to defend themselves, being that the accusation was pretty harsh.

And yes, as of today, the owner is a "member" here. If you notice, it's their only post, and the name is "FC1530" for Freshcraft and their street address.

I think a charity boxing match is in order. The proceeds go to my all grain setup. who can host?

So who wants to fess up for letting Freshcraft know there was a complaint?

I didn't, but I would have if they hadn't already been. Anyway, I would encourage anyone and everyone to go to Freshcraft and experience their service, beer, and food menu for yourselves. It is a regular stop for me, and one of my go to places when I have out of town, beer geek friends to entertain.

Seconded. A great place.

I have to say if I had a group and we were waiting for a table for a long time and another group waltzed in and sat at it. I'd expect the management to ask them to vacate it for my party. If that group refused, I'd expect the management to MAKE them vacate it for my party. Perhaps shoving out the door isn't the right way, but what should they do, call the cops?

If they won't leave when asked by management nicely then yes. God knows they don't have anything better to do:drunk:

I believe the party had already moved. The pushing out the door business was a delayed reaction.

Yknow what I just realized... I've never seen a hostess or other female beverage service worker in New York cry after abuse from a patron. They are seriously tough chicks as a rule.

I know I would personally never dream of getting froggy with one, for fear that the cute girl behind the bar give me an embarrassingly savage beating.

So, either 1) Denver truly is a kinder gentler place than New York or 2) Hernando's story holds more water than I originally thought...

If customers being huge horrible jerks is really that rare in Denver... I think ultimately this is a story about how awesome Denver is.

Anyone else find it odd that the owner never denied the act of violence? Or even justified the type of reaction? Sounds like admitted guilt for that part of the story.

It sounded more like a brusque nudging than actual violence actually (I think if a person had felt truly assaulted he would have either assaulted back or gotten the police involved depending on the person). The thing I dont understand is how little was made by both sides about a hostess and a WIFE being cursed out.

I'm definitely not a big fighter, nor am I the toughest of guys, but curse out my fiance and there might be a hole in your roof where I shot through it like a rocket. (IE Id be really seriously pissed).

CJ, welcome to HBT...always good to see another Denver member.

I am wondering though, did you join just to partake in this discussion? Were you the other family members that Hernando mentioned?

As far as your 3 part question goes...no, no, I think you are reading to much into the answer to get what your looking for.

Hi, I'm God, and I was there at the time of the supposed incident. In no way did the owner commit any acts of physical violence. However, he did pull down his zipper and pee on Hernando's shoes.

or that he was drunk. I would NEVER go to a place where the owner wonders around drunk. IF the highest position can't handle himself in a professional manor, how am I to expect his crew?

P.S. When you have been asked to leave a private business you are expected to make a prompt retreat out. Otherwise its trespassing, the owners have a legal right to PHYSICALLY remove if necessary, any retaliation becomes assault/battery on the persons there illegally.

It was GABF in Denver last week. Freshcraft is not only walking distance from the convention center where GABF is held, but is also a premier spot for an excellent craft beer experience. Not surprisingly, loads of special beer-related events were taking place at Freshcraft last week.

"Wondering (wandering) around drunk" is almost guaranteed *not* to be what the owner was doing. Participating in taking special tappings, most probably. Do we know the actual state of sobriety of either party beyond hearsay? No, we don't. I would suggest discretion in our assumptions about what really happened.

Btw, your PS makes and excellent point.

Quite honestly I don't find it odd. I wasn't there, but the Freshcraft account of events sounds more plausible to me.

Until further details are provided, I can not willingly patronize Freshcraft nor can I serve alcohol to Hernando, his BIL, or his wife.

Off topic u arent watching me during my "private time" are u?

Seems like a few others share the negative feelings for Freshcraft after I googled reviews of the place. The OP is not the only one who has had words and been shoved by staff.

This is a good point. Although I don't think (Disclaimer:not a lawyer, didn't even check Wikipedia) that simply asking someone to leave gives the owner license to use any and all force to remove the patron. I would assume it would still be assault on the owner's part if he asked him to leave and then 30 seconds later came over and cock-punched the guy.

If the person is not posing an immediate threat, and the owner merely wants them to leave, they have absolutely no right to use force. The recourse is to call the police to have them removed. Most bouncers operate in a VERY gray area legally, and as a profession they are frequently arrested for stepping over the line.
