That was just too funny!!! Now I wonder if I should have gone to the ER about my arm; hand, forearm and elbow still swollen after bike wreck last week.

Haven't you learned ANYTHING from Dude? Walk it off. It'll all work out in the end.

Seriously, in the above-referenced (though fugazi) scenario, the LAST person I'd be taking advice from is a dude named FINGERS. ;)

Perhaps if my handle was Finger, I could see your hesitation, but as it is my name refers to multiple digits.

It's not like taking relationship advice from someone named..... Fiery Sword.

;)
:p

F*ck, man...

I decided to spend a little time here tonight since I haven't in a while, and I came across this. I never read the original thread mentioned, but I totally fell for this amputation ****, Dude.

I had my cell phone out and half the numbers dialed to see WTF had happened.

If you remember, I told you to go to the ER too, you doofus. Now, you really had me going- I was getting all choked up and worried about you and didn't say I told you so, but was feeling terrible.

I think you should have it amputated anyway, just to make me feel better.

:D

Now that is funny right there.

Okay, I AM KIDDING.

I had to fukc with Pumbaa and Orph, as they were the ones that were giving me a hard time about it....LOL, I'm a dick, but I was over here laughing my a$$ off.

I wanted Pumbaa and Orpheus to see it and say I told you so. I got that. LOL.

The finger is fine, healing nicely. I cringe a little bit if I accidentally bump it, but it certainly looks better than it did Friday night. :)

Sorry............

You fooker
I'll be there tomarrow and I'm cutting the GD thing off myself now

When I was a little kid, there was a movie that scared the **** out of me. This little old lady was mugged, and the thieves tried to steal her wedding ring. It wouldn't come off, so they cut off her finger with bolt cutters. It still makes me cringe, imagine watching that when you're five. I have no idea what movie it was, but I happened to somehow see that particular scene again a year or so ago on TV, and it sent chills down my spine.

The point is; Dude, I'm pretty sure, next time one of us sees you, you're going to be like that little old lady.... :D

I'm just trying to figure out which one we use.

We got the standard issue
Ratchet_Pruner.jpg

Not quite a clean cut but is pretty quick:

Or we can go plasma and then re-use it for kegs :mug:

What a hoot.

I'm sure Dude was concerned about his stiff & swollen body part being properly cared for. :D

LOL. Ya had me going. I actually had some simpathy going for ya after reading the Chairman's post about the Shocker and your lack of the pinky.

What's the over/under on how long it takes before Dude gets a finger in the mail? :D

Walter Sobchak: You want a toe? I can get you a toe, believe me. There are ways, Dude. You don't wanna know about it, believe me.
The Dude: Yeah, but Walter...
Walter Sobchak: Hell, I can get you a toe by 3 o'clock this afternoon... with nail polish. These ****ing amateurs...

Just so you know.

This is a little long, but worth the read.

I was cutting down a Thornapple tree with a chain saw on a Friday night; big glob of thorns about 10 feet tall and 10 feet in diameter. It's impossible to tell which side is heavier on a tree like this, so I started on the side that I could get at easiest. As I was about 2/3 thru the trunk, the tree leans back on my left hand, maybe an inch, and a three inch thorn pokes into my hand right at the knuckle of the middle finger, and goes probably half way thru the back of my hand.

I was not too happy about it, it hurt a bit, but I kept cutting till I was about thru the trunk. Since I was wearing a jacket, I pushed the tree over with my shoulders, and headed up to the house. I bled it a bit to get out any germs and bits, and shrugged it off. It swelled big on Saturday, and by Sunday I was heading into a Readi-Care off-hours clinic. They blew me off, telling me to the hospital, 'this can be serious'. I'm like, 'yeah, right.....'

At the hospital, they check my blood, and while the lab tested it, I started getting an IV of some kinda antibiotic-the same stuff they do for deep flesh wounds, like gunshots. The test comes back saying my white cells were low, pointing to serious infection, and they say 'three strikes and you're out! Come back in 8 hours.'

I didn't quite understand what that meant, but Monday morning before work, I go into the hospital and they repeat the whole procedure from Sunday night, and again say 'three strikes and you're out. Come back in 8 hours.' I had to go get my 3 year old son after work from the sitter, and I show up at the hospital in shorts, a t-shirt sandals, keys and wallet in my hand. They repeat the blood taking and lab testing and say 'you're out. You're staying here, for a week. We told you; three strikes and you're out'.

I spent the rest of the day, that night and my doctor 'sprung me', the next evening. I was in a room with 3 terminal old guys, nurses coming in every 10-15 minutes doing something to one or another of them- OR me, checking my blood, temp, pulse, etc, and giving me the IV's-I got NO sleep the entire night. They put in an extension of the Heprin Lock and taped it to the palm of my hand, so I could give myself the IV's at home. They discharged me, and a nurse came out to my house with a BOX FULL of the IV's, needles and drip stand, and showed me how to break the vial in the bag, shake it, and jab a needle into the Lock. EVERY 8 HOURS, for a whole 7 days. No work. I got crappy sleep, 'cause I was stuck on the couch, due to the IV stand and not being able to sleep, so all I could do was watch TV; non-stop. No drinking, no showers-I could do nothing but lay there. I was super COLD, because of the constant IV's, which had to drip slowly, and I just had the CREEPS during the whole deal. Sort of like feeling cadaver-ish... :(

SO, the moral to this story is, whenever you have ANY deep wound in or near a finger or toe-GET MEDICAL HELP IMMEDIATELY! The blood circulation is terrible in toes and fingers, and if you get any kind of infection it gets REALLY bad quick, spreads, and you can EASILY lose a digit, OR WORSE. This was only an invisible thorn prick....

A low white cell count means you DON'T have an infection. The white cells attack the infection, so if you have an elevated count, then you're infected. You must have misunderstood them.

Anyway, glad it worked out for you. You could have lost a pinkie!
