Hi I am new to wine making, but it seems to me that if you are cleaning a bucket and sanitizing it, wouldn't it be fine for a primary?

The issue is toxic mold release chemicals heated into the plastic. Food grade means specifically that the mild release is non-toxic.

Also, the alcohol can dissolve compounds in certain types of plastics. Those dissolved compounds are now in your wine.

Not what you want to drink.
