Ok so here is my recipe, I just want to make sure I'm following it correctly.

Specialty Grains
* 0.5 lbs. Simpsons Crystal
* 0.375 lbs. Dingemans Biscuit
* 0.125 lbs. Simpson's Roasted Barley

Fermentables
* 6 lbs. Gold Malt Syrup (boil for 60 min.)
* 6 lbs. Gold Malt Syrup (boil for 15 min.)

Boil Additions
* 1 oz. Northern Brewer (60 min)

Place my specialty grains in a mesh bag, and steep for 30 minutes at 160F. Discard. Boil. Add 6lb of extract and the hops, boil for 60 minutes. When there's 15 minutes left in the boil, add the other 6lb of extract.

Is that right? Am I supposed to add the hops right at the start of the boil? And the two listings of the extracts means I add the extract at two seperate times?

Thanks for the help.

sounds like you got it. just be careful with the liquid malt extract, turn off the burner or take some precaution to not scortch it on the bottom of your kettle. you are correct on the hops and extract additions.

It's going to be a Wee Heavy Scotch Ale. I will be making a yeast starter and using secondary fermentation, anything else important that I need to do with such a high OG of 1083?
