Foaming out the blowoff tube

Brewing a relatively high gravity Imperial Brown Ale. I learned from my previous mistake with high gravity brews and went straight to a blowoff tube on this batch. Sure enough it's foaming out the tube; should I do anything to stop it or just let it run it's corse?

As long as the end of the tube is immersed in Star-san or something similar, you're fine. Let it run its course.

Always wondered why the end had to be in a bucket of sanitizer. Is an infection going to climb up the tube and back into the beer?
