I have CBDS and two Morebeer floats. No problems with the CBDS but with the Morebeer ones the tubing gets stuck above beer level or water level when purging kegs. I just ordered these and think the extra weight will fix the problem. For 4 bucks its worth a shot. Gonna try one in All Rounder in next dry hopped brew to avoid clogging posts

How did these work for you? Was considering the same for weighting the tubing + dry hopping.

Worked great in keg was able to purge entire keg without it hanging up. Also used 2 oz dry hops in keg and poured clear. Haven’t used it in fermenter yet but think it will be fine.

I had two from Morebeer (same as the ones from Williams) and I had issues with the hose end floating, until I added a SS washer to the end to weight it down. I bought my other 4 from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Ball-Keg-Floating-Dip-Tube/dp/B07ZWFQXWK and they are plenty heavy at the tip to work without adding weight. I don't dry hop in a keg without using a hop canister so the screen would not be needed for me. It looks like they also sell on their website. www.ballandkeg.com

Can vouch for the floating dip tube from www.ballandkeg.com. They are inexpensive and work right out of the box without added weight like the Torpedo ones.

This seems like it would be a great idea in the fermenter in theory? I hook up an inline Bouncer currently, and not only is it another potential source of infection, and leaking, in the 3 times that I've used it, it also doesn't appear to be picking up anything.

I've got a couple that I believe are the Torpedo and a couple that are from Williams. In the most recent use of it, I was under the impression that the keg had kicked went it was spitting out foam and this was despite the fact that I had added a SS nut to the end of the tubing. There was still over 5L left.

Looking to ferment in a corny with floating dip tube then pressure transfer to serving keg. No need for floating dip tube in serving keg.

Looking for best floating dip tube for fermenter. Suggestions/experiences?

FLOTit, Buoy, CBDS......

Thanks!

I see there are a few floating dip tube devices for corny kegs available nowadays. If there are significant differences, can anyone who is familiar with them weigh in on which is the best option? TIA!
I’ve been using the Clear Beer system ( the original floating dip tube) for a number of years. They’re easy to install & the support from the manufacturer (US based) is outstanding.
I have them in 6 of my kegs.

The Clear Beer system is the Cadillac but you do pay for it. The Torpedo Keg type sold by Williams, Morebeer and others needs weight added to the end to keep it submerged. Otherwise the tube end floats and sucks gas instead of liquid. For the inexpensive units, I use and have several of the Ballandkeg units. They work great right out of the box without adding weight and I believe their silicone tubing is thicker and never kinks on me.

The torpedo type work fine for me after adding weight. Others have not needed to do so. Weight can be added in a number of ways and is fairly simple.

One additional consideration - the torpedo keg buoys come with a short dip tube, while the ball and keg do not; they instruct you to cut an existing dip tube.

The best? CBDS. Pricey, though.

Ordered a couple of the FLOTit dip tubes and (I think) all the other necessary parts to get going. Will start by doing slightly smaller batches into a couple of 5 gallon kegs I already have. If all goes as planned I'll spring for a couple of the 6 gallon Torpedo kegs.

I have 2 of the Clear Beer rigs. They're great especially woth the extra hop screen. I fine with gelatin and within 24 hours I am pulling pints you can see through. Give it a week and it is brilliantly clear.

Another great item is the Fermentasaurus float and dip tube. They're really inexpensive and work well.
