I know the general area. I lived in K-Zoo for a number of years...that's closer to Paw Paw, right?

Lawton is the next town south of Paw Paw on M-40. Bankson lake is about 5 miles S.E. of Lawton.

Back in 2014, I was trolling from my brother's 29' sailboat on Lake Erie... I think I caught ONE lousy rock bass. We weren't sure if it was in season or not, so we tossed it back. He, on the other hand, kept catching sheepshead. Not good for eating, but MAN they put up a fight.

Anyone ever caught a snapper? I used to run a trot line in the pond in my front yard... loaded with dough balls for catfish. More than once I've hooked a snapping turtle. Let me tell you, you do NOT want to get your fingers anywhere close to their face!

I absolutely love to fish. My favorite hobby. Been doing it since I was a little kid. When I was a teenager we lived across the street from a lake and near a golf course too. I used to sneak on the course in the evening and catch some really big largemouth bass (catch and release even back then), on those small golf course ponds. The lake across the street was great too. I'm lucky the wife loves to fish and we have a small boat. When the boys were younger we took them fishing all the time also. Good times, even when you don't catch a thing. Great bonding time with the kids!

Wife, I and all three of my daughters all Fly fish...Trout and Salmon mostly.. Our youngest ( first picture) works for and is starting to fly for a Lodge in Alaska owned by my wife's sister and her husband.

Wow, lots of nice ones. We live on the Mississippi, with bluegill,crappie, northern have all been on our plates. Still looking for the walleye and perch, and would love to figure out how to catch flatheads. Edit - and closest trout stream is less than 7 miles away.

I've been fishing since I was three yrs old...Dad taught us to fish, and trying to get better a fly fishing, and tying my own flies. It's right up there with gardening and now brewing.

We do an annual fishing trip to Yellowstone every year. This was one of my better fish from last year.

Largest fish I ever caught - sturgeon on the snake River in Hells Canyon. It was around 7 foot long.

I have a Hobie Outback that I love. It's pretty tricked out; fish finder, turbo fins, anchor trolley, visi-pole light, etc. Nothing like being able to fish with both hands and not having to paddle. I've had it for three years now. Costs more but worth it.

I went to the fishing show in Long Beach this week. I couldn't believe all the doo-dads and gadgetry you could mount on the rails. You could easily spend more on accessories than the kayak itself.

I used my Uncles for going out on the ocean, not for fishing, but the hands free approach is a definite bonus for fishing. If you do go on the ocean, I'd bring an oar with you as sometimes the conditions make the pedaling a little interesting (ie turning your rudder while pedaling).

Also, I strung up my rod yesterday. We are having a warm streak the next two weeks (And yet it's a full blizzard outside what the heck), and hopefully it will get all the ice out of here so I can do some fishing. I also set my drag with a digital scale for the first time, so that's exciting.

Been a fisherman my whole life. Grew up and lived in Maine. Now moved to Minnesota we didn't have some of the species of fish there they do here. I've become a die hard Carp angler here. They get huge and fight harder than any fish I've ever caught.

hell ya, carp fishing is awesome. best fight per pound. i recently took it a step closer and started hunting them

Love fishing, dare I say more then brewing... I do some fly fishing in the spring then chase tuna all summer and fall.

OK, for those of you non-salt water fishers: portable fishing boat that can be taken camping without a trailer...go.

Trailer cannot be used because the set-up is a Class C RV pulling a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited...if I put a trailer behind the Jeep, I don't think I'd make it 2 miles without being stopped and ticketed.

If it matters for portable boat suggestions, the Jeep is the 4 door type and is sometimes soft top and sometimes hard top. I am opposed to drilling holes anywhere on the RV for mounting purposes.

Any ideas?

That's what we use for most all fishing, both saltwater and fresh water.

I have 12' kayaks, and those are "recreational" sized so not for Lake Superior, but ok for medium moving water and waves, and flat lakes as well. They are the "sit in" kind, but I don't have a spray skirt and I stay pretty dry on most days.

I have an inflatable Sea Eagle kayak also, but I only used it once. I don't remember hating it, but it's not nearly as comfortable to sit in or paddle as a regular kayak. You can get a rack for your Jeep if you want.

We also have a 12' jonboat and that is easy to move and carry as well.

These were regular fare at the gasthauses (restaurants) when I was in Germany. Split right down the middle with everything intact (minus the guts, of course), baked, hanging off both sides of the plate. Delicious. Last thing you do is eat the eyeball (after a bier or two).
