I joined a local homebrew club over the summer and plan on entering a competition they are hosting in October. I’m still a relatively new extract brewer and have no visions of placing well in this contest. That said, I am excited to participate and take part in my first contest.

My biggest obstacle at this point is time. A busy summer has not given me the time to brew until this weekend. At this point I only have 5 weeks to the contest. As much as I’d like to do a more complex recipe a little more outside the box, I think in order to present something respectable I’ll have to be mindful to pick something on the simple side that will taste good in this short time.

Any suggestions? I was able to filter Northern Brewer’s Extract Recipes by time and The Innkeeper seems like it could be a good choice. I’d welcome any other thoughts.

BierMuncher's OktoberFAST might work. It's a good beer for the season, and it'll be ready fast. It's all-grain, but someone converted to extract.

Steep grains as desired (30-60 minutes)

Im by far an expert but..
I would sub. most or all of the LME with DME and I guess the malts are steeped. Also probably don't need the 90min boil since our grain will be steeped beforehand.
