First time brewing beer ever. Did 2 all grain beers a day apart. A brown ale and a pale ale. We are about 3.5 weeks into fermenting and will be bottling next week. We opened the lids to see what things looked like and this is what we saw.

The pale ale had a lot more stuff floating in it than the brown. Is that normal? Do I just skim that off? FYI the brown we used liquid yeast and the pale was dry yeast if if hat makes a difference.

Thanks
Jon

It looks done! You've got some yeast rafts floating, but no problem at all. You only need to protect it from oxygen now, since it's in a bucket with a wide headspace.

Don't skim or otherwise mess with it- just rack (siphon) to the bottling bucket and proceed with bottling if your SG readings are stable.

+1 to everything that Yoop just said.

Both look perfectly normal.

Bottle away if the gravity is stable.

Unless these are high gravity versions of those styles, bottling and drinking are overdue.
There are sober kids in Africa, so drink up.
