Ok so we want to start brewing beer. The thing is, we don't know what we're doing. We were thinking extract brewing (is this just diluting the extract and then adding yeast/fermenting???) or some kind of brewing that involves boiling/cooking but not any kind of malting/kiln/germinating/that stuff. Help?

And detailed directions or awesome links would be sweet too.

Thanks y'all.

Read the first part of this: http://www.howtobrew.com/section1/index.html and you'll know enough to get started.

This is really good advice- This is what I used to get started just last month; I am on my 3rd batch right now and all are performing as a batch should. You'll find that after reading the first part, you will end up reading the whole book (complete book is also online)

try www.cruisenews.net/brewing/. easy to understand, has pics, and equipment lists. shows all-grain and extract brewing.

good luck and keep us posted!

i think the most comon equipment equipments come with a short litle book on brewing. you'll want to do extract where you will be diluting and cooking, and you might as well use specialty grains, cause theyre easy to use. if you just want to add water, i guess there are those canned beer kits, but thats not really doing much brewing.
