Hi everyone. Long time lurker (Ive learned a lot here!), first time poster on HBT.

I came into a bunch of kegs recently, and there's a single Challenger VI that is missing a liquid out post. It seems like there's no spare posts for Firestone kegs anywhere outside of the USA/Canada, and I am in the UK.

Before I import a new post I wondered if there's something else I could use and came across a ball lock adapter for a keg coupler: https://www.themaltmiller.co.uk/product/ball-lock-post-liquid-58-thread/

It supposedly has a 5/8" FPT thread. I know the Challenger VI liquid post is 5/8" 18.

Can anyone say whether this should work or not?

Thanks for reading.

Aww. I know the item is meant for a sanke coupler, but I hoped the 5/8" thread on the Firestone liquid side would match.

Thanks for your help guys.

Looks like I'm stuck ordering a $12 keg post and then paying $29 in shipping and UK import taxes if I want to use this keg.

Aside from the $12 for the post, (make sure there's a poppet with it, it's too often not even included!) that shipping rate is totally reaming it and out of line. Definitely shop elsewhere.

Don't know how it's over there, we can often buy complete and working used ball lock kegs here for $40 or even less (private market like Craigslist, our For Sale forum, etc.). Maybe just hold on to it for spare parts or when piecing one together from two. You can use one of the pilfered kegs as a fermentation vessel.

Or a good soul here maybe able to purchase it for you and ship it to you as a "gift" in a bubble wrap envelope...

Also, corny keg studs are neither npt or bsp. They are more similar to unf type thread.

Sanke coupler thread is 5/8 bspp(the second p refers to parallel) which is not compatible with 7/8 npt(tapered).

I second parting it out for the spares and utilizing it as a fermenting vessel.

It's $14 shipping to the UK (seems standard). The problem is then at the UK end you get charged 20% tax AND then £8 (about $10.30) by the delivery company for the joy of collecting that fee.

Any good souls here? :D

Kegs are more expensive here. Refurbed from a shop they're at least $75. So $40 to bring a keg back to life is just about worth it.

From a private seller you can get them cheaper, but there's not many around.

If all I have to do is make a trip to the local posts office, I'd be happy to do it. You could order, have it shipped to me, and I'll mail it back as cheaply as possible.

I don't know if that will save you any money, but if you do some research I'm sure you can figure out the costs.

Thank you all for your help, especially b-boy for offering to re-ship it for me.

I'd save a few bucks that way, but I think I'm just going to get Keg connection to ship straight to me instead.

Thanks again.
