When did the kitchen open at Half Acre?

I think on Jan 14th. I haven't been but a friend said the food was pretty good - not sure if he meant that to be a glowing review or mediocre review.... Anyway, here's the menu. It looks pretty tasty

[EDIT: Deleted my ghetto photo of the menu since Ferowcious post below is much clearer]

So, the comments about this being the fruitiest and least balanced batch of Clare's have been correct, but I still love it. I find that it's a bit sweeter than previous batches I've had, but it doesn't seem that much sweeter since it's always been pretty sweet. TL; DR - fruitier, a little sweeter, still great.

I'm not into the ins and outs of this stuff. Would you elaborate out of curiosity? Usually, I only care who has the freshest cans available to me.

There have been a number of employee's who have worked at West Lakeview that were let go / fired for absurd / spiteful reasons over the years.

I kind of like their stance towards 'raer beer releases.' They seem to hate the lines and the absurdity, and frequently hold releases or lie about what they have on hand (and honestly, what store in Chicago doesn't do that these days?). But they always have pdub's stuff, a great selection otherwise, and their employees are usually pretty chill and informed about beer if you talk to them.

I don't know much about their internal politics/drama though.

Why am I remembering it was around 11.0%? Maybe that was Mayan Gold? I remember FoBAB 2013 I believe, and the sign on the table near where they were pouring the Lost Abbey track series - might be wrong though?

Oh, not sure about the Mayan Gold ABV. Xocotatl was 9.5% or something like that.

with the nature of all the unattenuation, sugar and the trace addition of bourbon, every single modern sugar bomb/BA stout is plus/minus 3 or 4% abv thats on the label (with the exception of BCS which undergoes a fancy lab test).

call it the not your fathers effect.....when I submitted the label and when I calculated it, it was supposed to be 19.5% abv....I mean the yeast stopped working halfway through and its only 11% abv but.....
