Speaking of **** that's in way too many trades, can we talk about Madagascar for a minute?

Sorry. Dad joke. I'll see myself out.

Find me at DLD and I'll crack a De Garde for you that will blow you away.

I'll actually be in Oregon (mostly Portland) that week, we will actually be stopping there for research, but I am looking forward to Common's and finally getting to Upright this time more than anything else (stupid odd hours)...

Right on. In the future if you're looking for something that is outstanding from them, check out their Imperial Apricot Bu. Even those who I know who hate De Garde have no choice but to give praise to that fantastic brew.

Imperial Apricot Bu

Meh, overly acidic. It reminded me of Upland. Peche 'n Brett was worlds better. I had a Blu Bu around HotD's 20th and that was amazing. I have given up on everything else since my last big trade for De Garde. I'd still love to go to the brewery and try some things uber fresh but I've given up trading for it.

Anybody know anything about this BA stout that Temperance is releasing tomorrow? I just saw a retweet. Looks like 150 bottles of 22 oz RIS aged in some sort of bourbon barrel. No real info about the base beer as far as I could see. I'm sure it'll be enough to get some bro-skis up to Evanston given the low bottle count, food truck, and DJ spinning. Yep they advertised DJ spinning. All of this is pretty much the opposite of what I want to do with my Saturday. Hopefully for them the beer is good. I like their english IPA they can.

Fantastic choices. Highlights of Portland for me. Try to go to Upright on Friday night (they're only open like 5-8pm or something weird), they were doing fresh shucked oysters onsite for like $1 last time I was there.

One of them is aged in some old Manhattan barrels. I'm pretty sure this is the beer that was at FOBAB and was quite if my drunken mind processed the taste correctly.

Edit: Here are the details:

Since last March, the big brew (10.9% alc/vol) has been aging in High West Distillery white oak barrels that previously held either High West’s 36th Vote Barreled Manhattan or its Barreled Boulevardier cocktails. The result is a new take on barrel-aged Imperial Stouts. (The Boulevardier Might Meets Right was awarded a bronze medal in the Experimental category at the Festival of Barrel Aged Beer in November 2014.)

An extremely small number of Boulevardier bottles ($25 each) will be released and they are limited to one per person. Up to three Manhattan bottles ($20 each) will be allowed per customer. (Prices include 9% IL sales and 6% Evanston alcohol tax.)

Yeah, we were in Portland last September on our honeymoon, but left for Seattle on a Thursday, so we only got to check out HotD and Cascade (**** them). This time, we are going with some friends of ours and they wanna do a whole brewery day, so we are gonna do Breakside, The Commons and Upright with an after Ava Gene's dinner stop at APEX...

That whole SE portion of Portland has a bunch of walkable breweries. I did a whole day just in that part of the city, HotD, Cascade, Commons, Apex, BeerMongers all on foot. I'm jealous you'll be back there.

Does anyone else understand what this whole Lizard King thing is about? Quest for cans? Is this beer release like a kickstarter for a canning line or something?

While I enjoy Pipeworks (which makes me in the minority here it seems), I can not and will not support a doors referenced named beer.

This is a beer they plan to offer year round in 16oz cans once they get their canning line up and running. This is just a chance to "preview" the beer before they start canning.

I think it sounds pretty good, too:
We'll be kegging 100% of the "Beta version" of Lizard King, our new 6.5%ABV Mosaic and Amarillo dry-hopped pale ale that'll be featured in 16oz cans when we're brewing in the new production facility!
