Hey look, they used to live here, at least!

http://grimmales.com/our-story/

Contract brewers out of Brooklyn.

If you're feeling frisky, or want to pick a needle in a haystack, then maybe remember this thread and know that 1 man was excited. Distro through Shelton, so only in those spots (not, for example, Skokie Binny's).

I'll never get the love for Cigar City. So meh.
It all starts on a local level. I mean, what's better than CCB in the Tampa area? Then the hype gets overblown online, and you know the rest. I love me some White Oak Jai Alai but I do agree that a lot of their other stuff is meh. Maduro Brown is crap. Even regular Huna is meh. Took the double barrel treatment to make it outstanding.

Reminds me of Toppling Goliath... I tried King Sue at the last DLD guest tent. While good, the first thing I thought was, "Why would people trade for this when they have FFF in their backyard?"

Basically, we're just spoiled little ***** here in Chicago.

I actually thought King Sue was the cat's ass, but it came from a growler at DLD.

BA The Revival from Pipeworks is god damn delicious. I wasnt sure what to expect but took a shot and I'm regretting not buying more! The barrel is delicious and forward. The orange and spices are subtle and play really well with the barrel treatment. I'm definitely seeking out more bottles of this one.

FYI, WLVL has all the Anchorage beers and the rest of the Shelton drop (a million Mikkellers, etc.) still coming out the ying yang today.

huge thanks for the tip, i had pretty much written off getting deal with the devil but as of about 40 minutes ago, there was about a case of darkest hour and two bottles of ADWTD on the floor after i made my purchase (maybe more deal in the back? didn't ask). also had some black damnation variants (but at 40 bucks i passed) and a whole shitload of other shelton stuff.

also i know Dunt and at least one or two others were talking about tomes at wlv, and the only ones i saw on the shelf were a single bottle of pissenlit (which i snagged, maybe ask if there's more?) and a row of brise bon bons. i didn't see any dates on the pissenlit so i'm not sure it's 'good tome' but i just thought i'd alert.

edit: there were some rumours that this was batch 1 ADWTD, but the bottle i got was dated december 2014.

Ask this every year but will ask again:
General state of Sucaba in Chicagoland? Haven't seen it yet but haven't looked much.

Sucabas Chicagoland distro is hilariously small this year. The larger suburban Binny's managed to get 1 case (6 Bottles) each!

Well then.

Straight Jacket it is. I will have to buy multiple, of course, to make myself feel better about the loss.

EDIT:
Also, Arbitrator, a followup per our earlier discussions of this. Sucaba (and probably Parabola) definitely no longer on the easy to get in Chicago list.

:(

This is interesting to me - I had guessed the contrary (that it was either a larger production, or that the hype was down this year) only because I was seeing haul pics with multiple Sucabas, even from IL, and also I got one from Skokie Binny's about 26 hours after they tweeted it was in (they announced it 10am Thursday, I didn't go until lunchtime Friday).

Whole Foods Kingsbury had it yesterday morning for $15.99... Doubt they have it any more, but its getting around and hitting shelves.
