The stuff at La Primera is no bueno, just bought a BBB Dark White to review the other day. Thanks for the heads up on Noel though!
Really? That sucks.
I had a bottle of Dark White from there about a month ago and it was great.
Guess I wont be picking up some more. Thanks for letting me know.

Pipeworks Brewing plans new brewery, distributing beer in cans
Some choice quotes include:

Sounds good to me (though I'd personally rather see End of Days than Close Encounter in 4-packs).

Fair point, I guess, but walk into any liquor store and see if retailers have managed to sell every drop so far.
(emphasis mine)
That is patently ridiculous that Gerrit doesn't think they're already competing. It reminds me of a 2-part interview the Reader did with Laffler recently (was that posted here? -- part 1 & part 2). There are some parts that are horribly self-absorbed, including Laffler pointing out that he never really had to deal with the mundane tasks of making wort (a point which some brewers are still bitter about, based on conversations I've overheard at the Castle Vav tap room). But he also points out,
Considering how (over-)saturated Chicago seems to be at the moment, it may behoove Pipeworks to follow Off Color's lead and embrace a wider distribution model sooner rather than later.

Believe it or not I spent several hours today reading through all 302 pages of this thread. It was entertaining. I do miss many of you guys from BA. I knew you all went somewhere but I couldn't remember where. If you all will have it, I look forward to addressing all the posts regarding me or my business.

I quoted the one above first by Dan because it's a good launching off point and I look forward to hopefully having an honest conversation with you guys....

cheers,
-Gerrit

Time for a PW AMA.

Gerrit, go here and start an AMA. I know you'll get a lot of questions and it'll be better to not clutter up this thread. I've got quite a bit to ask right off the bat.

That username! Great success!

Liked for username, didn't even read at first.

Also, just so you know, CansIn2022 , every so often we will randomly close your AMA for no good reason. You'll have to make another topic just like the last one, but eventually we'll close that one too because a few people will begin discussing canning lines (which are not beer).

Went to an Off Color event at Publican Quality Meats last night, it was well worth the money and I've got a new appreciation for Fierce. Basically the only beer the wife and I consumed, food was also amazing and extremely plentiful. Not a single neckbeard in sight, all in the basement kitchen and a small-ish, but great crowd. I wish more events were like this (oh and before anyone asks: Troublesome, Scurry, Fierce, Apex & Biere de Guard Dog, plus a cocktail made with Scurry)...

I was wondering how this event would turn out. If it wasn't for the CW party this weekend I would've bought in. Love me some PQM.
For those who've been there and haven't bought the beef bacon from the deli case, you're missing out.

It was even better than I imagined, there was so much food and the pairings were perfect. 3hrs of all you can eat/drink in a basement kitchen, Paul Kahan and Donnie Madia were mingling with everyone, plus a DJ spinning actual vinyl.

Sounds like it! I was worried when I saw Paul Kahan tweet about having "bites" of food with the beers. Made me think it would be a strict small bite course menu, but hopefully they'll do another one soon. I'll be looking out.

Their versions of "bites" were rather large and filling, some were smaller, but they also had sammiches and this amazing opened face style sammich on fry bread with mortadella (I could be wrong on that). Everything was being made fresh and constantly refilled...

Vav says...
New brewery to the shelves: @GrimmAles Double Negative Imperial Stout & Shapeshifter Scotch Ale.

Y'all know about this already? This makes me excite, only had Bees with a Buzz from Grimm from a thoughtful NY trader but thought it was really good.

i'm temped to call you a jaded illinois bastard......

Considering we'd only get their standard offerings if they ever decided to distribute here it's pretty easy to choose Rev over everything they could send.

Anti-Hero > Jai Alai
Eugene > Puppy's Breath
Fist City > Invasion
Bottom Up > Florida Cracker

I'll never get the love for Cigar City. So meh.

Couldn't agree more. Cigar city is so mediocre. (except Hunahpu)
