Especially this. Plus, aside from the promise that Transient has, I really, really like the idea of Transient creating a little more momentum for saison/wild-focused breweries in Chicago. It's great having plenty of new breweries around, but some style/focus variety would be fantastic. Given the farming focus in the Midwest, it's really disappointing that we haven't seen more breweries like this popping up here, even on a small scale. I wouldn't think that the lack of small nanos like are seen in New England and the Pacific Northwest are the result of difficult legal issues, as there are otherwise plenty of nanos, they're just focused on the same American styles as almost all the other breweries here.
While on the subject, I should at least give a shoutout to Penrose, as I really like what they're doing.
This played a big part for me joining in the first place. My palate has migrated to a strictly lambic and saison basis, so this type of brewery is exactly what I was hoping for to spring up in our area.
So what time is everyone thinking of getting to Penrose on Saturday? It doesn't seem like there is much hype behind this (thankfully).
Decided to go to Kuhnhenn instead. Instead of walking away with a bottle or two, I will hedge my bets and just get a case.
