I've seen two announcements from Revolution about Blue Gene being available at the brewery: one says it's being released 12/10, the other says it was released 11/19. Anyone have any ideas? I'll call later if not. It looks like a shitshow in distribution.

I believe 12/10 is the draft release. They did release bottles but not sure if they have any left, because Chicago.

could be but I think there was only 125~150 bottles, isnt the reserve 200 folks? Either way, should be there in some facet sunday.
I think I've read somewhere, 150 members for the 1st round. And I think he mentioned adding about 50 more for the 2nd round? So this will probably be a members bottle.

I typically wear XL and detest heavy cotton T's that fit like tents and mumus.
This model shirt sits true to size. I think I'll be grabbing one.

one more transient tease.......we did split an enormous order of tart cherries this summer.

as much as i love chris and want to spend money in his store, i cannot possibly imagine how bad that line is going to be.

I really really hope not. We are getting a small fraction of what is shown in the Binny's pic. I know this sounds crazy coming from another store, but if you want to make sure you get your BCS, go to vav

I think you really need to prepare for a root beer line times, like, 8...

In other news: http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/wan/4777143779.html

Listen, I know it seems like every day there's a newer, funnier Craigslist ad but this... I don't even know.

Sorry to report u gun die.

Bubble wrap shelves in anticipation of Tickle Me Elmo rush?

I missed the original Transient release party so I have yet to taste a lot of these beers. From some of the discussion I've seen (and my limited tastings), it seems like some of these will almost definitely benefit from more time in the bottle (Obelus, IMO). What's the general consensus on what to drink know, what to let do it's thing in the bottle a little longer. I'm looking to take a couple bottles home for Thanksgiving.

I'm not sure how Red Wine Betise could get any better so I'd recommend that one now. I felt the Obelii might get some help with time, but they're pretty good now.

I've only had 4 of the bottles so far. I thought Peur and Wayward were great right away but can see them possibly getting better with some age. Had Wayward last week for the 2nd time, per Dunt's suggestion, and it was really damn nice. Biere du Ruche and Red Wine Obelus definitely needed some more time in the bottle though. IMHO.

Gonna echo everything said so far. I think both Obelus are a little young, but Wayward is primo right now and both Betise drank well right away. I've crushed every bottle of Biere du Ruche I owned, so I can't really say I know how that will age. Haven't tried Henry yet, but I imagine you can drink that fresh as well.

Thanks, bros. That definitely helps. Will take the Red Wine Betise and leave the Wild Turkey since I just had it at FOBAB.

Pasting from the other site - Per vav, Black Friday raffle items will be OG Vanilla, Coffee 2012, BCS 4 year vertical 4pks, Cherry Rye, King Henry

Also, it sounds like cans of Destihl sours are hitting the city - $10/4-pack.

That's crazy. I casually purchased Blue Gene from Whole Foods Kingsbury Saturday morning. Plenty sitting on the shelf. Also spotted it at Vas Foremost the other day.

It's the same story for every new release at Binny's. Stopped at the OB location on two different occasions to pick up Schlafly Pumpkin beer and Lagunitas Born Yesterday within a few days after they were released. Both were sold out but I was able to pick them up at a liquor store not too far away. Makes me want to skip Binny's altogether for new releases unless I get there the day they are announced. At least Binny's has a decent selection of cold beer and a quick chiller.

So much this. That beer held its own in a really good tasting. I don't care what may happen to that beer in time. It's great now. No reason to wait.

Someone on the other site is doing the Lord's work and has been collecting and posting other upcoming BCS release events. Of note, the Bucktown Walgreens will be hosting an event - beer sales start at noon on Friday (apparently, they have "tons" to sell). The flagship Whole Foods will also do something on Dec. 5 (further details TBA). Bottles and Cans will be on Sunday.

I said I wouldn't last year, but stood in line anyway. This year... with temps hovering around 20 (and feeling like 15)... I may take my chances with one of these other releases.
