Release these ******* transient details already, enough with the dick tease emails
Speaking of, what was with the "you can line up early outside and bottle share" part? Do they really think a 150 member only release warrants lining up prior to 11????

Chicago brewery gunna Chicago release. Lulz.

My homies, just got this response from an email I sent Chris:

Sorry for the delay, Ryan. On top of the 4 included beers there might be somewhere in the neighborhood of 100-200 extra bottles. I will enforce a 1-2 bottle limit on those and charge somewhere between 15-20 ea. I might also release a couple other non barrel aged beers (if they are ready) and those will run 8-12 ea and have a more generous limit if a limit at all. Also, there will be the beers being released on draft (albeit staggered) along with many other specialties and new releases so come prepared mentally and monetarily.

Looking very forward to sunday.

Looking very forward to sunday.

I have a wedding the night before. It will be rough to get down there at 11. Hoping to get there no later than 12. Hopefully they have the TV for the Bears game.

I'm probably going to get over there right at 11 so that I can be back in time for the Bears game, though hopefully I'll get to enjoy the half hour or so that I'll spend there. Hoping that the next one isn't on Sunday, or is at least when the Bears are at night.

Anyone hitting the Screw City Beer Festival tomorrow? I know, Rockford is a desolate wasteland that should be avoided at all costs. But last year, this was a solid fest. 22 breweries from Illinois, lots of solid offerings.

I will be there, VIP ticket in hand. Looking forward to it- it's always a great time!

kbs on tap at binny's lincoln park. apparently tapped yesterday but hasn't kicked yet.

For my money, I'd head up to Jerry's Andersonville for Devil Over a Barrel that's been sitting on for weeks at $6 for 12oz.

Also Sheffield's tapped some nice Rev brews last night (Hugene, Gravedigger Billy (!), Black Power, and Straight Jacket). Hoping to swing by today.

Another update from Transient, complete with Parking details.

Transient Artisan Ales said:
The release is a few short days away (that's a lie, they are normal length days: the laws of time still apply) and I wanted to give a few more updates, clarify some things for those of you driving and allow for you to coordinate with one another on rides, if you are looking for one, or have a space for a fellow member.

For those of you familiar with One Trick Pony, it is going to take place at their brewery, but not the one you are used to, it will be at the new brew facility down the street, at:

17845 Chappel Ave. Lansing, IL 60438

Attached is a map of the release location. Marked in red is where you CANNOT park, and the green is where you CAN. The west side of Chappel Ave down through the warehouse buildings is off limits. DO NOT PARK ON THE WEST SIDE! You will be towed if you do. Almost everything on the east side of the street is available for parking except in front of and behind RDG Auto. The purple pin is where the front door to the release will be, and the line should start.

We will have you enter the brewery starting at 11:00 AM where you will immediately be checked in to pick up your bottles and merchandise. You MUST BRING YOUR ID!!!! If you previously ordered and paid for extra merchandise, everything extra will be located with the extra bottle/merchandise table. You will then be given a wristband and allowed to put your bottles away and come in to enjoy some draft options/buy extra bottles/eat/watch the bears game.

On the topic of extra bottles- we will have a very limited amount of extra bottles from the release available for sale, but you will be limited on quantity. Limit will be determined soon. There is a chance that there will also be some non-barrel-aged beers available for sale as well, though that will also be decided closer to the event.

Draft beers- No, I will not tell you what they are. Come and find out. It will rotate through some previous batches, as well as a few new offerings along with a few of the beers being released. Prices will be the same for all drafts, and the pour size will change. (you will use the glasses you receive for this beer on tap. We will also have water coolers around for rinsing/drinking. If you do not want to use your glass, we will have plastic cups... shameful)

Food- In One Trick Pony fashion, we will have some pretzels spread about for you to have while at the event. Along with that, we will also have a taco truck taking up residence in our parking lot.

Bears Game- We have a TV, and so long as the antenna works for the channel, we will have it playing during the release.

Those who have expressed concern with the bus, the brews cruise will be here with plenty of time for you to get in on the extra bottles, and will take you safely and soberly home. Please fill up the last few spots immediately, it is worth the price.

Thank you all for your support/patience/excitement,
Chris Betts

How's the opening going? Couldn't make it today. Family, church, Sunday, etc. Looking forward to getting my bottles at a later date. Hope the beer is great. If anybody snags an extra honey saison, I'd make it worth your while. We belong to the HeritagePrairieFarm CSA and eat a bunch of their honey. Enjoy the day!

Wasn't able to make it unfortunately, but SmallBar on Division had BCBCS and KBS on yesterday for 10th anny. Might want to call first to see if anything has kicked.

I thought the event was very well run. We got there about 1:00, so I am not sure how the initial rush was, but there were no real lines for anything while we there, and everything tapped was really great. Bought in based solely on word of mouth and having never tried anything from Transient and not at all sorry that I did!

i got to transient a little after 11. the good:

- initial bottle/merch pickup was about as easy as it gets. maybe 15 minutes from lineup to beer in hand.
- reasonable lines for draft pours. everything i personally tasted on draft ranged from solid (chardonnay obelius, red wine oud bruin) to noteworthy (henry) to exceptional (blueberry peach berliner). i don't think anything kicked while i was there; i left around 2.
- well priced draft pours. all drafts were $4 but pour sizes varied depending on the beer. 8oz on the barrel aged stuff, 12-16oz on everything else.
- delicious, well priced (3 for $5) tacos.

the bad:
- agonizingly slow line (~1 hour) for extra bottle purchases, albeit after everyone in the initial rush got helped, it was a lot more manageable for the late comers.
- apparently we were supposed to get 4 bottles in our initial allocation rather than the 3 that were handed out to the initial rush of people, so chris went around handing out the fourth allocation bottle and crossing off names. if you left immediately after pickup and you didn't get a bottle of red wine obelius, you should probably email chris about it.

don't let those 'bad' notes deter you from a future release event if you couldn't go to this one. especially for someone who was putting on a beer release for what i believe was the first time, it was pretty damn well run. the extra bottle line sucked, but it was only really a slight damper on an otherwise excellent event (and it pales in comparison to the things i've heard about dark horse's 4 elf bottle lines). people were cool about ducking out of line temporarily to get draft pours so that helped too.

for those who couldn't attend, the allocation beers are:

- wild turkey oud bruin (can't remember the actual name of the beer and i'd need to dig in my box to remember)
- red wine oud bruin (ditto)
- chardonnay obelius
- red wine obelius

i didn't see them run out of any extras while i was there either.

so my dad broke my chardonnay transient Anyone buy an extra? Apparently his backpack broke and they met the ground

great release. red wine betise (oud bruin) and wayward (brett pale) were highlights.
