Was a real shame seeing so many empty bottles laying around the patio grounds after the herd left Friday morning though. They didn't deserve that disrespect this weekend.

I didn't see a single piece of trash left over on Saturday. There was even a group people with garbage bags collecting trash from other people around them in line. Everyone seemed really well behaved.

I can't remember a single bottle on Saturday either. Besides the people who left empties on the lids of the garbage cans instead of putting them inside. It was crazy what a difference a day made.

I was curious, how early were people at the front showing up today? We rolled in around 7:30 and were in the 420's.
And I don't know how anyone can leave that place unhappy, even if they missed out on bottles Friday. Disappointed, sure, but pissed and unhappy? I love every trip up there and it keeps getting better.
I also noticed they're offering a larger tap selection than before. Just wish they would put Scream on!

I got there at 5:30 on Saturday and was 20th in line. Just to put it into perspective. Everyone really started pouring in around 6:30.

So...Transient Reserve Society, that's still a thing right? Has anyone heard anything recently? I feel like there hasn't been an update in awhile.

I honestly don't understand why Transient RS is a thing. It would have been worthwhile for him to put his resources toward maintaining a regular draft presence. Sure, there's a long list of locations on his website but how often are any of those places actually serving Transient?

Hey all -

Anyone got any additional info on this upcoming release? I''l be in Chicago this weekend and part of next week and am hoping that my travels coincide with the release, which will save me the trouble of hiring a taskrabbit. ;)

I posted this a few pages back. We're still mostly in the dark from our end. No idea on release dates or anything yet. GI Clybourn hasn't provided any updates since the tweet this past Friday.

Thanks for the info man. I did notice your post, however I was trying to gauge whether additional information regarding the release was available. Apparently that does not seem to be the case, so I'll see if anything else pops up. Cheers.

Anyone been up to FFF recently to try that Speed Ball? Had it Sunday and thought it was great. Had a strong espresso bite that I love in coffee stouts. Possibly the replacement for Hells Black using Dark Matter?

BTA was better than I expected, but not enough to drop $15 on a bottle.

Had a version of Speed Ball months back. It was fine, but I'd much rather have an imperial pint of Backmasking for the same price.

Loved it. Had a Moloko right after and had a very similar texture. Almost thought Speed ball was Coffee Moloko, obviously not though.

Maybe? Batch 1 HBI was a god-tier coffee stout. I heard a lot of people raving about Speedball but I thought it was merely good.

Agreed, I wish it was a larger pour, but it did say a limited amount so maybe they're still tweaking it in small batches?

I didn't have any fresh Moloko, just the SB and that Sublair experimental pale ale. Just loved that strong, in your face coffee/espresso punch. Almost like last year's BCBCS fresh minus the barrel.

God damn that HBI was great. As soon as I read about the Intel/DM switch, that was the first thing I thought about, no more HBI. I never got to try the BA version, did that improve on it at all?

Not for nothing, but as it appears there are some Moloko fans here I thought I'd mention that Niche Restaurant out in Geneva (right off the Metra) serves a whiskey cake with Moloko ice cream. Finally tried it on Friday. It's quite legit. Might be worth a try for hardcore Moloko fans. Also tonight/Wednesday nights, they have 1/2 price bombers and 1/2 price drafts along with a bottle share. I know some folks already know that part, but I wanted to pass along the Moloko ice cream news because it is delicious.

You mean the midwest version of Wakefield?

Good luck.
You bite your tongue! :p

On that note, and not directed at you Tom. Why do people expect a society to start offering beers weeks after you join? Isn't one of the ideas of a society a way to crowdsource some funds to make more/unique/experimental beers for their fans? People should join a society knowing that there's going to be a period of weeks or probably months before payment of said membership and release of beers to come to fruition.

Case in point The Bruery opens HS/RS membership signup typically in September and you don't start getting releases until January. DeGarde just had sign ups in June for next year's society. I'm sure there's more examples. My point is Transient is an upstart brewery and this is their first year for any sort of society, so I would expect that they didn't start brewing society beers or plan society releases until the society details were hammered out and memberships purchased. Hell I bet Chris didn't' even place glassware/shirt orders until recently because he need to wait for everyone to pay/confirm order quantity and sizes.

All I'm saying is: patience. It's been about a month since your payment was due. There was never any timeline for releases or even officially when the membership timeframe was (i.e. Bruery's is for the calendar year). Ya'll need to CTFD :D

This. It's been a month, relax. It's been 10 months since I paid my Wakefield dues and I've barely gotten an email, let alone beer.

I stopped by Sheffield's a bit ago. They have Prop on draft in the beer school bar at $10 for 6 oz. They also just stocked the fridge with a couple Cherry Rye, Bramble, and Rare. The former two were $46 and $48 (or vice versa), and the Rare was...$105.

I passed on all 4. But thought I'd pass along for those so inclined...
