Looks like I'll be visiting your fine city in early August. May be a bit early to ask this but are there any events in particular that I should check out? Doesn't need to be beer related. Already plan on going to a game at Wrigley and have some drinking establishments and restaurants on the to-do list.
Early August, not beer related... Lollapalooza?

I may be out of touch because I don’t recognize most of that lineup...
I mean same, but you asked. I work right next to Grant/Millennium/Maggie Daly Park so unless I am on vacation I kind of can't escape it. Do312 is a good site to look at for overall info about what is going on in Chicago on a given day. They send daily emails so maybe don't actually sign up for an event through them, but it's a good site to find out about events if you want a one spot shop for shows, festivals, free city events, etc. I linked "today" as August 1, but feel free to change the date and browse for ideas. https://do312.com/events/2019/08/01

And you didn’t even mention Navy Pier. For shame.

Hey middlebrow your bungalow is charming.
charming and non-diabetic beers is what we strive for...just wait until we get that permit and we start our outdoor garden charm, it'll be insufferable. now every go there more so i can quit my job and run a barrel house.

I don't line up for anything less than the fourth phase.
not that im some sort of ageist, but does anyone else think that lines made up of a lot of older dudes? the way baby boomers have liked ruined lots of things, is this the start of Gen X'ers starting to ruinin the place, and theyre starting with craft beer?

Someone stole a couple cases of Phase Three cans from Orange & Brew.

With all of the valuable, expensive things there are to acquire via breaking and entering into a beer or liquor store, doesn't 3 cases of haze seem extremely unnecessarily risky?

If people locally weren't pulling Oceans 11 heists for Pappy bottles or BCBS variants, why suddenly do it for $320 worth of ipas?

Not really. They are the same age as all the folks in those Joy of Homebrewing books.

It may have been a crime of opportunity while the store was open -> sneak into back room -> walk out with cases. ******** move either way.

I thought MORE was his own brewery. How many more hype trains he going to conduct??
My understanding is he severed his relationship with his financial partners over the direction to take the company. I don’t blame him if half the rumors I heard were true. Sucks it happened so fast.

No, he had no ownership in that brewery AFAIK at least not a majority. The owners (Patel brothers) were opening a brewery and hired him away from RAM is what I heard. Perhaps he was offered some ownership stake but certainly not a majority. Some people speculated he only got a cut of to-go sales, but none of the brewpub business. I'm not sure exactly, but he didn't start the business.

The owners were planning to open 2 more locations, and he thought they were expanding too fast / going a direction he didn't agree with. So he left.

Yeah, wouldn't want them to brew enough beer that people could actually get it without standing in line for 12 hours...

I'm sure his beers are great, I've never had one cuz they require a Kings Ransom to get.
