hey bbs, greetings from dc and the trump thread. am visiting fams in southern IL for xmas, flying into ORD on sunday. was going to hit up burger antics on the way until i found out they closed at fkn 3pm on sunday. anything casual that is good to eat from ORD down 294 to the stevenson?

also, i'll be back in chicago 27-29. anything new and awesome in the last cpl of years or is it the same breweries/stores/bars?
Is your family at my house? You're passing right on by.

In January they will start doing Sunday dinner, but that doesn't help you now.

If you want to hit a DDD place, there is Del Rhea's Chicken basket off Rte 83 by where it meets 55.They have... a $3 craft beer of the month. There is also a Portillo's right there. As for places with beer and food and open on a Sunday for dinner, if you are willing to come into downtown Downers Grove, Cellar Door has a killer BLT.

Goodness, I did not think about how often we drink and eat at home on Sundays because nothing good is open, lol.

Was anyone else surprised to learn there’s a replica leaning tower of pisa in niles? Granted I’m south side & suburb the majority of my life, but feel like I would’ve heard about this in the past 30 ish years.
Not worth the drive to see unless you can find one other thing to do in the area. Speaking from experience...

A quick 10 drive south of O'Hare. Grilled chicken and made to order tortillas are great. Giant quesadillas with carne desebrada are also delicious.

**** it, there is a Publican at the airport, just eat there.

Airport Pub is pretty much a great idea Terminal 3 between Gates K & L, but i'm also off on Sundays and my house is by O'hare, so you could also just come by for a Westmalle Extra and a Publican chicken, since i have one marinating in my fridge currently.

I mean, how creepy of a story would that be?

I’ll leave it to the Western burban folks to answer the ORD>55 dining question.

However - on the back end of the trip - where are you staying and do you have any interest/availability in grabbing a drink with area Trump thread regulars and others?

hi yes hello. idk where i'm staying, probably downtown to river north-ish. v interest, yes. not sure when works - in part because i'm not sure if we're coming back 26th night or 27th morning. 27th night could work....

OH YEAH about the ORD to 55 thing, more importantly than food, anywhere that i can stop to get Zombie Dust on that route?

There is a Binny's in Oak Brook that wouldn't be too far of a detour off 294. Also, there is a Whole Foods right off the Ogden Ave westbound exit of 294. They should have it, but wouldn't hurt to call first and ask.

Why is a double orange milkshake IPA a thing and why is everyone going apeshit for it?

I saw someone offer a VSOJ for 2 cans of a Sonic Drive Thru type beer.

My mix of thoughts here -- 1. Have not really enjoyed milkshake style much, and as a result haven't bothered trying many. 2. Saw the hype over this and had a can downtown this week and thought it was awesome. 3. Would never trade VSOJ for it.

1. Its really good.
2. Hop Butcher has been making some of the best hops in Chicagoland.
3. 8 cases sold out in 17 min at the beer cellar

I haven’t really enjoyed the milkshake IPA style either but if the fickle #oldmoney palates of TB say it’s good, I trust y’all.

I completely skipped over milkshakes and went directly to Brut IPAs. I have no regrets. Oh, and Two Hearted or Crooked Tree in the kegerator to remind me of my #oldmoney status.
