this is like inception level theft...they are my client but i was not the client on this project but that client stole from me from work i did on another client on another project.

"We did these cans years ago, and they continue to slap."

This line cracks me up, they really do think highly of themselves. On another note, as a designer neither of these are that great or revolutionary. Both follow the trends of what's currently popular in the deign world, plus if they did use their work as inspiration then be flattered and move on. Minimalistic colors, clean type and good use of negative space always works best in the end, here is a good example of something that was copied by everyone...

Anyone else notice the Goose ads around town that imply that Goose IPA recently introduced “third coast IPA” to the region 1) like the beer is new, and 2) like Bell’s and Three Floyds haven’t been producing IPAs in the region for ages. It’s nearly as tasteless as the Wicked Weed ad, but in far fewer words and doesn’t step on the sacred Lambic cow.

Also, New Glarus Moon Man has always billed itself as a "No Coast Pale Ale"...

all those ad's aint targeted for folks in the know, theyre targeted at my mom. actual conversation -

hey hun, you heard of this new ipa from that place you used to go to all the time. is it better than that billboard i can see from our bedroom of that two heart thats the number 1 beer?

No, but it makes me wonder if Larry Bell will send a cease and desist, since Third Coast Ale has been his for like 20 years

I think I am bothered by the word “slap” in this context like a lot of people hate the word “moist.”

It sounds... icky. Like a dirty old man is trying to slip in a sexual referenxe hoping you’ll get it, but thinking he is getting away with something if you don’t. It just sounds slimy and gross to me.

So... thanks GBH. Your post has made me think wet squelchy slapping in a completely unattractive way whenever someone mentions Central State. The two are now linked, to me, for the time being. It’s a pretty boring label aside from that so thanks for the mental picture. Can we get a vomit smile?

It's been a term used in hip-hop circles for a long time. Only recently has social media completely ******* ruined it to the point people like GBH use it.

I may have heard "slap" like once or twice in the past two decades. Not that I know everyone locally here in the hip-hop world, but the majority of all underground hippity-hop artists came through and recorded with my roommate at my first spot in Wicker Park back in the late 90s and early 00s. Maybe it's a coastal thing, but definitely not used in Chicago much at all.

From now on, I am referring to "dry-hopping" as "moist slapping" for all hazy and milkshake IPAs. New release, "We triple, no quadruple moist slapped our extra thicc and juicy IPA..."

anyone we might know?

my closest brush with fame was this guy freestyling in the living room of my apartment completely at random. showed up at our house/keg party with another guy and took over the microphone.

The entire All Natural and The Family Tree line up, the G4 crew including Qwel and Maker (The Harvest was done at my place), Pugs Atomz, The Pacifics, MC Shadow and DJ ALO, Mass Hysteria and so on and so forth. Anyone not named Kanye or Common was pretty much through that place over the 4yrs we were there...

Also.. if anyone ends up with an extra Boss Ryeway 4 pack.. I'd be willing to swap a Vanilla Deth 4 pack for it.

I cannot make it today.

I remember it being used a lot by my young, black co-workers around '08-'10, maybe? Always as a description for a new track. Certainly never as a description for bougie beer can designs. But I saw 'Ciara' trending and thought there might be a boner pill recall, so my connection to the hip-hop world is probably only slightly better than GBH's.
