Well that's a shame, haven't been there in a few months but I've always enjoyed the food and beer selection. Based on my background, that seems like a very reasonable price for rent / property taxes as well (would love to see the actual lease as I trust other folks abstracts about as well as I trust online beer reviews...).

After doing a little checking around this morning it appears that they've been "up for sale" for at least 3 months if not longer. Additionally, the number that Bad Apple is looking to get ($830,000) is about $500,000 more than the average bar in that area (without real estate) is getting these days, so if they are set on a number above $750,000 it might be for sale for quite a while.

Still it's kind of sad, and I have to imagine it's a drain on the employees who have to be aware of the uncertain future.

Ya, a couple weeks ago was (selective) lottery selection. Luv the idea of a true lottery...sorry goose island, you don’t have a booth it went to RAM of Schaumburg or middle brow.

GABF is still selling endcap row booths. That's typically where the Goose Islands, Stone, Oscar Blues, St Arnold with their mini-church, and Dogfish Head typically end up.

This is an awesome assessment of it. A bunch of Tikk-ers trying to run around and grab all of the whalez but if you're just looking to try a bunch of new spots, or discover new spots it's worth the cash. Also doubling down on the people watching event because people have no idea how to hold themselves together in public.

Sounds like you could skip GABF and just go to FOBAB instead.
