I am so far outside of beer. I did explain to some nice folks last night that Wild Blossom actually makes some pretty good mead and it sits around on shelves because it has been sitting around on shelves since before mead was cool, but it is totally worth checking out.

As for local beer, if it isn’t Off Color, Imperial Oak or Aferthought, I haven’t a ******* clue.

EDIT: I know a little about REV, too.

Thanks for this, I've considered asking you about Wild Blossom a few times recently, and you answered my question without me even having to ask.

i walk into binnys or some other small shop and am so overwhelmed. I have no idea what most of anything is and question why prices on some stuff is insane (who's energy city and why is it 19 dollars?). Also I aint flippin 20 4-packs over to find whats fresh and why do some brewers have 30 sku's, i dont have time and patience to read NEIPA 20 different ways. i typically bypass all the colorful noise and buy off color or 2nd shift technical ecstasy.

I also don't know who Energy City is, but again, I pulled the trigger on a single of Hop Nawi and thought it was surprisingly good for the style -but I am an inarticulate baby palate, so I can't tell you why. Also, I don't think it was $19 for 4 by me, but I could be wrong.

Love the Technical Ecstasy recommendation. Having a BBQ this weekend, so planning on buying more of both of these, plus some middlebrow Queen.

Also, it's been said, but bring back Cobra Style!

Someone please tell me what beer I should be excited about. Shills welcomed.

Yuzu Fierce just came back out, and Market Rate / first Off Color Foudre beers are being released this weekend.

Imperial Oak has their first Foudre beers (Brett Saison and Berliner Weiss) coming out next weekend as well as their first mixed fermentation Wild (Gold) which LT tells me is tasting better than anyone expected.

That's all I got.

Cobra will be back in some form as I think we got the ok to continually barrel age beans granted we house the barrel. Should be pretty regular once we get goin and age a new fruit wild for some time.

What was a single, 5 bucks? I would love if their were more single bottle shops instead of the two. Christ sakes, Trader Joe’s knows people like to try different ****.

I can't say much about it, but if you come to the release tomorrow at Le Trap, we may have a special bottling available for onsite consumption. I'm just saying, also why didn't I know about the C&C La Folie and will someone hook me up? I'll set ya up with something nice, also Koi is a FANTASTIC beer that should not be slept on...

Metropolitan Haus Helles is fantastic at the tap room while watching the birds catch fish in the river.

Westmalle bottled a small run of their Extra, which is the blonde ale the monks drink. I don’t know if any is coming stateside so I ordered a bunch from BIAB, you can drink one with me if you’d like.

Middle Brow’s How It Starts is a really nice Bretty buddy.

Shelton recently sent fresh Taras Boulba bottles so just about anything you see on the shelves out there will be super fresh, so long as they’re a store that cares about that kind of stuff.

I can’t drink Koi, but I like the experimentation. Everone can tell me how fantastic it is and describe it to me.

This. I have three cases but I’m not sure that’ll be enough. Everyone please buy it all the Taras Boulba so we can establish Chicago as the Boulba capital of the world outside of Belgium.

Fun Fact: There's no American hops in it. I visited De La Senne in November and was floored when Yvan told me that...it's all German hops and their yeast pushing a boatload of esters.

I’ve heard all sorts of different reports on the hops, though almost all of those are Hallertau and/or Saaz. Also, their fermentation character is perfect. So consistent across nearly all of their beers, or at least the lighter, hoppier ones.

Had some company in town this previous weekend so made it to some breweries I don't normally have time to swing by..

Cruz Blanca had a killer dry hopped lager called Pluma on.

Marz had a great hoppy Czech lager on called Prague Spring.

Even FFF had a delicious hoppy lager on commemorating Minnesota high school hockey hair called "Savage Flow".

Lager.

Flying out of Midway where there is no Publican.

I'm hoping trickytunadicky is on a plane, because I didn't believe her when we flew out of Midway to Tampa in March and she warned me in advance how bad the new concourse was due to the remodeling / changing of restaurants.

I thought how bad can it be?

It was that bad.

I probably should clarify that there’s two mead/beer fests happening up there 8/4.

I’m up here, which bottle is the super secret one? Is it Whiskers?

Who shows up at the airport early enough to sit down and enjoy some leisurely beers/food?!?!?

As someone who travels too often for work I don’t want to spend any more time in an airport than is absolutely necessary.

#guywhoshowsupatthegaterightwhenboardingstarts
I do if there is something I want to eat. Anyway, I had to change flights and airports, and such.
