Just wish they would move away from 12 Percent Imports. Ridiculous markup on their beer from these guys hurts their sales outside the Chicago market, which could stifle growth long-term. Remember seeing bottles of Apex Predator for over $3 each out in the PNW. Ridiculous.

I saw a six pack of Scurry for $17 out there this past summer.

Here in NC, we're allocated a case of apex predator to shops that do well with twelve percent. When we get it, it's $14 a 4pk with standard markup.

Never thought I'd say it, but enjoy what you have Chicago

Double Daisy Cutter to be released in bombers (yawn) on Feb. 12. Growlers far more reasonable at $20.

Another seasonal release not in cans. Here's hoping the line is up and running and able to support GDDC being released in cans this spring/summer.

When we opened our doors in 2013 we got a lot of advice. “You should make beers people have heard of
before.” “You should have a tap room.” “You should only distribute beer in Chicago.” Well, one of the beers no
one heard of before became one of the “It” beers of 2015, we send beer to something like 34 states, one
Commonwealth and a District, and we still don't have a tap room BUT we are very excited to announce the Off
Color Bottle Shop! Brewery fresh beer! Special releases! Nonair conditioned industrial space!

Off Color Brewing Bottle Shop, 3925 Dickens, Chicago, Illinois 60647

Soft Opening! Friday 2/12 from 2pm7pm. Come by, see our new space and watch us fumble with the POS
system! It'll be fine, I'm sure. Totally fine.

Special Releases at the Brewery!

First up: Whiskers, Saturday February 13, 14pm

Ticket Reservations: You know what's not fun? Standing in line. We won't be able to completely
eliminate it but to try and help we'll release timed presale reservations on the website a week before the
release. Tickets will be $1 with all proceeds from ticket sales donated to charities we support such as
WrightWay Rescue. Bottle allocations will be based off of the number of tickets sold.

About Whiskers: Centered on the idea that cutesy animals deserve cutesy beer, we brewed this rosé
inspired American Wild Ale with our good friends (and likely only all Brettanomyces brewery) Central
State Brewing from down in Indianapolis. Whiskers is fermented with a blend of our own funk cultures,
house lactobacillus and CSB Brett strain, Brettanomyces indianapolis and aged in puncheon barrels.
Vinous, acidic, dry and funky. Sure, Whiskers won Silver in Wild Beer – Acidic at the 2015 Festival of
Barrel and Wood Aged Beer but, more importantly, it has an otter on the label.
This is a breweryonly release. Whiskers Ticket Reservations go live at 1pm, Sunday, February 7:
offcolorbrewing.com/releases.

Freshie Fridays: Sick of getting 3 day old beer at your local boutique beer store like a chump? Well, going
forward we'll have a standing bottling day every Friday so you can come by and get beer fresh off the line!
Also, we should probably tell our bottling crew they're bottling every Friday.

Public Tours: We’ll start with one tour on Saturdays at 2pm. Since space is limited, we think it’s best to make

your reservation online: offcolorbrewing.com/tours.

Hours of Operation:
Wednesday: 3pm–7pm
Thursday: 3pm–7pm
Friday: 2pm–8pm
Saturday:12pm–6pm
Closed: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday

No cash will be accepted, so don’t forget your credit card!

This is genius.

(In a vacuum, ignoring potential impact, albeit small I would presume, on sales in stores).

UH HUH...

Anyway, this is kind of awesome.

Somebody just did everything right
I got twenty bucks that says whatever site they sell tickets on crashes.

Loved when they did BHA in four packs. Then the last release it went back into bombers. Don't get it.

From what I recall, it had to do with which facility it was bottled/canned in and which the bottle/can would be sold. Since they wanted to sell out of one location, it had to be packaged in the same location. I'm sure someone more informed would have better details, but that's what I remember seeing/reading/being told at the time.

Another consideration are the cans themselves. A minimum order from a manufacturer is X cans - will they be able to make X cans' worth of beer? If not, do they have the square footage to store the empty cans? If they have the capacity to make X cans, how much will it cost to make that much beer and how much will they need to price the 4-packs to make money? I know bombers are generally the most expensive option but there could be a compelling (though not necessarily good) reason to use them.

I was going to argue with this (even their collab with SP sat on shelves) but I forgot that simply requiring effort to buy it increases the likelihood that many, many ******** will be F5ing to get their bottles.

Anyone know if this is the only way to get Whiskers? Is it hitting distro?

I dread the inevitable person trading their $1 ticket for something other than a handshake.

Edit: "Reservation "Name and Address" you enter after your choosing your time below must match the "Name & Address" on the ID presented at the brewery to verify your age"

No distro at all: "It'll be for sale at the brewery. One day only. Saturday, February 13. You will not find it in stores around Chicagoland." http://www.offcolorbrewing.com/releases

if I remember correctly the BHA labels were shrink-wrapped plastic on a plain silver can. Plus now they have that new space...wherever that new space is I forget.

Edit: Bombers offer the highest ROI for the brewery. As long as we keep buying they'll keep selling.

In case anybody is interested, Pipeworks is doing a beer dinner at Niche in Geneva in about a month. A pretty excellent draft list I think. I'm sure the food will follow suit. Given their collabs in the past, these tend to be pretty excellent beer dinners. There have been a few special bottles cracked by PW before as well as some bourbon afterward. If you're leery of being out in the burbs that far, the train is 4 blocks away.

It's our 3rd Annual Pipeworks Dinner!!
We just nailed down the beers, now its time to figure out the food. Pipeworks is and has been a big part of our restaurant for the last three years. It is a huge honor and I hope everyone that loves Pipeworks and Niche has the opportunity to come out the night of Wednesday March 9th.

Beers on draft for the event only:
Lizard King
Glaucus
Close Encounter
Crimson Snapper
Barrel Aged Jones Dog
And a special treat, tapping of the Pipeworks/Niche Collaboration "Revival"!!

Doors Open 6pm / Dinner at 6:30pm
$80.00 for the event

I was going to say that Niche is a very up-class restaurant. But that didn't sound right. Maybe because I don't know what to actually call a "fancy" restaurant, because I don't have enough money to actually eat at "fancy" restaurants.

And for the life of me I can't spell restaurant without using the spell checker!

What's the going rate for a 4 course dinner at a fine dining restaurant and 6 pours of beer? You can have multiple pours of the beers too if you'd like. Conservatively put the 3 canned beers at $6 pours, put Crimson at $8, BA Revival at $8, and BA Jones Dog at $10. That's $44 in beer alone. Leaves you at $9/course for four courses if the opening cocktail app is free.

I mean if people don't like food, then by all means don't spend that money. My guess is that most folks pay $50 to $60 for a four course plated dinner at a fine dining restaurant. At the low end you're paying $30 for 6 beers. That's assuming no value provided by the event itself.
