I think you are pretty on point with your assessment.

You can just walk into the store and buy a variety of Bells and Founders offerings of comparable style and likely better quality (Though that's as always in the eye of the beholder)

I'm not sure if that's just the nature of how things are or if the line is focused on that Vanilla Big Hugs.

People realize this **** is on draft all over the city for much lower prices right? Like you can just walk into the fulton tap room whenever and drink BCS without sweating your nuts off.
Come on, to say the variants and vintages are on tap everywhere is a bit of a stretch. The prices after being lowered are as good as you will find for bottles at almost any bars around here. Also, with the exception of '13 Prop, '12 BCBCS, all bottles lasted most of the night. Everyone was sharing and prices were fine. Plus, ****** video games. It was the best BCBS event in years, and the only decent one likely to happen in the foreseeable future.

Wait...when did this place become BA? Did I just log into the wrong forum?

GTFO. Big Hugs isn't even that noteworthy. Do people even know what the beers they're lining up for taste like?

You got it all wrong. They arent lining up for what Big hugs tastes like, theyre lining up for what the ba pipeworks beers tastes like, cause these big hugs are just future newmoney whales. Theyre simply buying stock.

Waited about 10 minutes combined to get in the taproom to get a pour of Big Hugs and Vanilla Hugs and that wasn't worth it. The line was still around the corner. I have no idea what is going on.

Drove by on way to Mariano's -- was considering stopping in for a pour. Still a line up the block. Looked packed.

Nope.

To be fair, ain't no party like a half acre party and the staff and vibe there can't be beat. Vanilla hugs was nice but I don't wait in line for beer unless I'm at hill farm or treehouse.

Let's go back to defending the gouging ass arcade bar with $20+ pipeworks bombers and expensive ass surly cans.

So I was planning to grab some growler fills this morning to send out in a couple boxes since i was going to be downtown for breakfast and other shopping. Of course it's ******* Big Hugs Day, or whatever they call the release. So the plan was to just jump into the taproom right at 11 for the fills and GTFO. Drove by and the line for the bottles stretched all the way to ****** Damen. DAMEN! And the taproom line was already 30-40 deep. Said "NOPE!" and decided to come back later in the afternoon.
Whatya know...at 3pm walk right into the taproom where Vanilla Hugs was still pouring but of course they're only filling growlers in the store so had to hop into a 20 min line for them.
Long story short, vanilla hugs sucked, reg hugs actually tasted better than past years but still overrated. Got mah growlers, 4pks of Daisy and GoneAway and people in line were shocked I wasn't buying any bottles of hugs. **** that ****!

This is how I celebrate Big Hugs day

I got to the HA taproom right at 11, walked in, sat down at a table (thanks to YellowBird for that!), walked to the other side of the bar and had pours within 5 minutes. I do think Big Hugs is the best it's been in years, and I thought regular was better than vanilla (which got better as it warmed though). The coconut cinnamon oaked variant firkin was damn good though, as was the maple nitro variant they were pouring in the brewery (the smoked paprika one was ... interesting).

I love the people who work at HA and they put on a good event. It sure isn't their fault that people will line up for hours for any limited stout these days. It's a good coffee stout -- I don't get in lines for that, personally, but it's not like HA are the ones hyping this up to the high heavens.

I know this question has been asked before, because I know I've asked it before, but - what are the north side options for filling a swing-top, 750ml or 1L growler?
The last time you asked the only answer was Half Acre. Yes, I am bored enough on my commute this morning to use the search feature for you.
