Coffee, yo. Mother-******' coffee.
I don't pretend to be a coffee expert but I know a decent amount about it and the roasters around Chicago. Who the **** is Quasar? Are they new to the scene? Has anyone tried their beans yet? Are they any good?

For the people that actually ponied up the cash for the Rev 5th Year party. Anything not available at the taproom can currently be bought on the shelf. I guess the only redeeming thing is it's $4 draft pours? Without a size offering I'm hesitant it will be anything substantial.

We are thrilled to announce the mega-lineup of brews we'll be bringing to our 5th Year Party at the Riviera Theatre on March 13!

Each beer will be $4 per pour at the show:

CANS ($4 each):

DRAFT ($4 per pour):

All places near me (Bucktown/Wicker Park) are fresh out of Deth's Tar. I've been looking to pick up one more bottle because it was damn tasty...maybe beer menus will be of service for my quest.

Quasar is new indeed. I haven't had their beans, but I did have Coffee Dino Smores at the Uppers and Downers fest. The coffee brought an earthiness to the sweet stout, which was welcome. Not sure why Off Color chose Quasar... maybe John or Dave know the guys who started Quasar? Random speculation only.

Well since they apparently hate it so much...

Srs question. maximthegreat: Do you get money from running CCBE? If not, can you just blow it up? If so, how much would we have to pay you to blow it up?

I really don't see any value that it is bringing to the beer scene. Like 2 years ago it was a great place to share info and get info, now it's just a lurk and hope someone shares some info that is close to you and you can drop what you are doing and be there in 5 mins.

Serious answer, no I do not get any money from running CCBE, but I have long thought about monetizing. Selling some shirts, glasses, etc. would be cool. Making a little money would at least make me feel like my efforts are worthwhile.

I've thought long and hard about blowing up CCBE and what would happen and every scenario in my head leads to one final conclusion; someone else will do the same thing. What we have is a semi-moderated group, so at least it's not completely filled with crap. Someone else's page could just become the Chicago version of ISO:FT.

I am strongly considering the idea of a spotted beer post to cut back on the, "my local jewel has hopslam" posts. But really what could make the group really cool would be people with knowledge contributing content. Tons of people just want to hate on all the posts, but never take the initiative to start a worthwhile post. It's a vicious cycle.

I think plenty of people would buy those up. It worked well for people who are in the Sour and BA Enthusiasts group.

How much work do you put in? I manage a page for a service organization and there really isn't much "work". Maybe organizing an event and posting that. CCBE seems self-sustained with member content rather than you having to post stuff or moderate all the time.

Managing a page for a service organization is a bit different from CCBE/CBE, with our receiving countless drunk messages from people who posted something inappropriate on CCBE/CBE who then find the only way to get out their aggression is to come at you headstrong for deleting their post, before they realize far too late that they posted something against the posted rules and apologize (if any) minutes, sometimes hours/days (on two occasions I have been a part of), later.

Weed and Cascade for everyone!

I've asked this question. 1500 buys it, or maybe there's another zero in there, don't quote me on that

Did you guys see Gerrit add that it's the best abduction he's made? Slyly shooting up the value and demand. I'm not on the CBE but what are people asking for?

I can empathize and see how that would be an issue.

He wasn't shooting up the value, he was responding to 2 dudes that said the recipe was different and the ABV was different. I doubt he was doing more then clarifying some yahoos speculations based on rumors and a different ABV. unless gerritt is a beer stock speculator/trader, in which case I think he might be like the wolf of CCBE street.

And as for what people are asking, I can't tell the junior comedians to the trolls to the serious people. I've seen kopi speedway, DB Mexican cake, beergeek speedway, to normalish CCBE stuff like Hunter varients, BCBS, & BBPt5.

He wasn't shooting up the value, .

Maybe not intentionally but lots of people saw what he said and respect Gerrit's opinion. If JVR said a certain vintage of Kriek was the best beer he's ever made, that would have a huge value compared to just another year.

I still think breweries should just start jacking up their prices to the appropriate market price. It works for wine; why not beer? People wouldn't buy goose island bombers by the case if they were $75.

Seems to be heading in that direction. Beer and wine have different target demographics though. That's certainly a risk if breweries want to go that route.

I've said it once, I'll say it a thousand times: I will never voluntarily wish for a product I like to cost MORE.

If I ever make enough money where this is the case, someone come punch me in the dick.
