I'm sure I'm the senior here but if you don't mind sharing a beer with an old fart let me know. I'm really not all that bad, at least I don't think. Lognar can vouch for me …we've shared a few

IDK who would be dumb enough to vouch for me, but I wouldn't mind sharing beer with an old legend like yourself, I still owe you for alerting me to that thread about me on "the other site" :)

... and your dessert pairings are as good as they get

Done. We're sharing a beer sometime too. Man I'm turning into a whore or maybe I always was.

You're gonna have to drive down here then Scalzo. ;)

Like seriously who is it? I don't recognize this new money who can't tell by the ****** smell of the beer that its regular ol abraxas

People are dumb. Of all places in Chicago also, why would Jake's get a keg of BA abraxas? The only keg of BA Abraxas that I've ever known of in Chicago proper was at Norse Bar when Vav had his event there a year and a half ago.

They mad!

That thread played out nicely. Jake's still insisting it's BA, Perennial says no. And all of The Usual Suspects carved out some time to hustle over there for it, now likely justifying to themselves why it was worth the time and $.

It's definitely BA. A buddy who is there intentionally posted on that page that it's not BA (to keep the crowd away), but then messaged me to let me know that it is.

i can't tell if it speaks badly for the drinkers or the beer that they can't taste the difference. Especially since 2014 abraxas tasted like a cinnamon red hot
Glad I'm not the only one who had that same profound thought. And honestly if perennial says nay I agree with whatever they say over what anyone else says

I live a block away from jakes...but I'm too lazy to check it out, and have donuts here to attend to. who can't tell the difference between BA and reg Abraxas...for shame

I've never even had regular Abraxas. The one bottle I did manage to get a couple years ago I gifted away.

Transient Verdant is ok. Not let down though either. Is this #newmoney too?

i simply cannot comprehend how perennial can pop up on twitter, outright state "it's not BA abraxas" yet you still have people who still insist that it is. BA abraxas is such a small batch beer that perennial could likely easily keep track of every single keg without much if any effort and i find it extremely unlikely that jake's could (or would) get a hold of a keg through back channels.

i think there may have been other BA abraxas kegs in the city besides the one at vav's thing a year and change ago, but i may be confusing that with vanilla abraxas.

According to another cicerone in CCBE Goose Island only bottled bombers of BCBS in 2009 to store them at the warehouse. No bombers of 2009 have ever been released for sale. Ever.
The irony is that I've never actually seen a 12 oz from 2009 in person. I didn't even know they existed until like 2 years ago...
