And for reference, I believe I bought one of the bombers when they last came out (maybe 6 months ago?) and sat in cases on the floor at Binnys for $7.99?
And I heard sixers were around $9.99, since I didn't actually see any in stores.

I just can't see the appeal of standing in a line 100 deep in nipple-pickling temps just to turn $12 into $30...

Or even just to drink the ******* stuff. It's tasty but damn just buy the ******* Sprechers **** and add an extra drop of vanilla or mix in some actual A&W.

If lines end up being 100+ deep by midnight on Friday, I'm gonna sleep in and not even bother. Gotta draw the line somewhere.

I have a limited number of places I plan to check out Friday morning. If there is any sort of madness afoot, I am going home and going to bed.

Anyone know if I can still get Born Yesterday from the source or is it through for the year? Can't seem to find any around the South burbs.

What the **** is #shusling?
#schuslering is the act of agreeing on a trade, then deciding that you may not have traded for "max value", find any way possible to get out of the trade (i.e. "dropping the bottle") and repost asking for more. Rinse and repeat until you've ripped someone off.

Named after Alex Schusler.

The root beer thing is kind of it's own phenomenon. I live less than a mile from the Algonquin Binnys so I have gotten the 10% bombers at both releases. For the first release, I can say that there were people there two hours early, a one bottle limit, and they were gone within probably 20 minutes. I can also say that 75-85% (maybe more) of the people buying them were not beer nerds/scalpers (whatever you want to call it). Yesterday's release was much more low key. There were 25 people in line when the store opened at 9, there was a 2 bottle limit, and I strolled in at 10:15 and easily picked up 2 bombers. The few other people there buying them were not beer nerds either. Just regular folk.

To me the obscene beer trading/scalping world is completely apart from the beer world that I live in. I don't deal with those people, I would never consider buying beer from those people, and I would never try to sell my beer or rip someone off in a trade like those people. I really just try to ignore it and enjoy myself in the world I live in. The only way it really affects me is that I might not get certain beers that I'd like to get. Which doesn't really bother me all that much either. On Black Friday I will probably hit one or two stores max and call it a day.

What I have noticed, which I think is kind of funny, even within my circle of beer friends, is that EVERYONE likes to buy their own bottle of a specific release. I've gone so far as to create a facebook group for my beer group so that we can try to coordinate what we buy (or at least keep track) so that we aren't all buying the same beer, instead we would just get together to share certain things so that we all get to try it. Craft beer is good, and more people are catching on, so in the future I don't see things getting much easier. The best thing we can do to thwart scalping/selling is to just not buy from them, and encourage other people to do the same. As evidenced by the ticket scalping game, though, there really isn't a way to get rid of scalpers for good. They will always exist. Which is why I just choose to operate outside of that world completely.

I called him out and he told me I should block him if I didn't like it. I told him he is one of the reasons why I am in that group and I love laughing at his stupidity.

Would appreciate screen grabs of all his FT posts from this point forward. I'm going through withdrawals. Text or PM is fine.
