6 oz bottles? **** YOU, INBEV!

Man, now I'm kicking myself for being a Costco member instead of Sam's Club. I'm setting the over/under on how many cases the most advocating beer nerd gets from this place at... 3.5. Taking bets now.

I can't believe these noobs weren't into the band back when they were cool!

I think that's a poor analogy--unless said music fans also hoard multiple copies of new records, buy concert tickets with no intent to ever go to the show, and spend copious amounts of free time trying to impress other people with how many records and concert tickets they have. I have no problem with people getting into craft beer--and I try to promote it when I can (such as stocking the work fridge with good choices)--but the type of people getting into the hardcore aspects of the hobby leave something to be desired.

Yeah, I mean I don't think it's entirely accurate either, that's just what I think of whenever I see pictures of people lined up for things like DinoSmores. I guess I was being more silly than philosophical.

It's not that bad of an analogy at all. A band gets super popular and all of the sudden instead of going to a small venue and seeing an intimate show you're shelling out 80 bucks to a scalper for a seat at the United Center. Yeah sure you can still buy their regular "shelf" album but to get the special signed one that comes with a bonus DVD you need to get up early and wait in the cold in the best buy parking lot or pay way more on eBay.

Next thing you know you're grumbling to your friends on the Led Zeppelin forum about how you liked them before they were cool when you could see them at an ice rink by your house and now that everyone else loves them it's just not worth the extra money and effort.

Except you are skipping over the lowlifes that have taken over the beer scene, only interested in what they can get out of the community.

Don't need a membership to buy alcohol at "club" stores in Illinois unless something has changed. Used to hit Sam's in college without a membership all the time. Just walk in say you are buying booze and keep walking.

About 6 months ago I was at my local Binny's (Elmwood Park) where I overheard a conversation between an employee and customer where they were talking about Prop. The customer said something along the lines of, "I really like coconut so I want to try it." The Binny's employee actually responded, "Save it and sell it man. I got a bottle I got put aside because I work here and I can easily get $100 for it on Craigslist."

Happen to catch a name or description?

Dude still works there but don't know his name. As ****** as that conversation sounded- and it did- he didn't outright say he sold his bottle. The thing that bothered me was him telling a dude to sell his beer, not drink it.

Line of people waiting for 10% Not Your Father's Root Beer at Binny's. WHAT THE ****.

(Full disclosure: I'm not here to get that, I'm getting wine and bubbles for thanksgiving.)

I give up. Just stopped byBatavia SAMs Club since I live out here. They opened 30 min ago. I was told that a guy came in this morning and bought the last few cases. Few cases... The trolls, hoarders, and craigslisters have officially won.
