Just got a 55L fermzilla. Wondering if I can attach fermwrap directly to the plastic fermenter or if it would get too hot and melt it? I did some searching on the web and this forum and couldn't find any definitive answers. It looks like a heat belt is too much heat in too small of an area but the fermwrap should spread that heat over a larger area so I assume it would be ok?

Any subject matter experts?

I have a 27L Fermzilla and I just added a 44" long x 4" wide run of reptile heat tape.

From https://www.pangeareptile.com/store/thg-heat-tape-3.html.
I had them terminate the tape with the correct terminals and an AC cable.

I have it plugged into an Inkbird ITC-308 thermostat. I just installed the KegLand thermowell. I also use the Fermzilla insulated jacket.

It is working very well. The total current draw is 24 watts. KegLand did say the the 30 watt heat belt could get too hot.

With your 55L you could go to a much wider tape.

Good luck.
