Hey guys,

I don't have a basement so I typically have to either drape a wet towel over my carboy or do a full blown swamp cooler to keep my fermentation temps down. I've noticed discoloring of my fermometers when they have a wet towel lay against them and when I swamp coolered by Spotted Cow clone, after a few days (the fermometer was above the water level but I covered the whole thing with a towel to insulate it also holding the moisture in) there was some color appearing on every temperature making it impossible to tell the ferm temp. They always seem to return to normal after a few days without excessive water contact, but it is annoying to have to baby them. I was thinking of putting clear packaging tape over them, but I doubt that will help when I have to use a swamp cooler. Anyone else ever have any trouble with this?
