I mix up my StarSan solution in 1 gallon plastic jugs of distilled water, and then use those to fill up a spray bottle. I also keep extra 1 gallon plastic jugs laying around, to fill with tap water and freeze them, for my swamp cooler/fermenter. Since I was brewing today, I tossed a couple of these jugs in the freezer last night, and just now, when I was going to rotate the frozen jugs, I noticed I'd frozen 3/4 gallon of StarSan (somehow I missed the "StarSan 7/7/25" I'd sharpie'd on it).

Did I ruin 3/4 gallon of StarSan? It's still frozen solid, but I'm thinking once it thaws, if it still looks as foamy when shaken as it usually does, it's probably ok...

The known components in Star San are phosphoric acid, dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid (DDBSA), and propylene glycol. I don't think any of them is going to be permanently altered by freezing. Once thawed and given some agitation it should reintegrate without issue.

Cheers!
